What Diego Leon has said about Manchester United after £3.1m approach made
Diego Leon has admitted he is aware of Manchester United's interest as Ruben Amorim's targets his first signing since arriving from Sporting CP last month. The 17-year-old wonderkid is a potential solution to Amorim's left-wing back position having impressed in his native Paraguay.
It's understood United have scouted Leon and started talks with his club, Cerro Porteno, over a potential £3.1million deal for the defender, who has impressed in Paraguay's domestic league. The teenage sensation has made 21 appearances for Cerro Porteno, scoring two goals.
He is also considered as one of the hottest talents in South America and is physically advanced for his age with his height, pace, speed and athleticism considering as his best attributes. There is a growing confidence that United can get a deal over the line for Leon, who has already claimed he knows that United want to sign him.

"I have a huge expectation to play the Libertadores 2025," he reiterated when asked about the transfer rumours by Deportes Uno. "I've seen about Manchester United’s enquiry about me, but I don't know anything. Everything is handled by my agent."
The left-back area has emerged as an issue for United over the last 18 months. Luke Shaw has not been able to stay fit for a consistent amount of time, Tyrell Malacia has only just returned from a huge injury lay-off, while Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui have also had to play in that position.
United already have a 17-year-old left-back in their ranks with Harry Amass, but he hasn't yet been afforded a chance under Amorim after impressing with Erik ten Hag in pre-season.
