'This is on a different scale' - New Everton Stadium feature has already sold out

The South Stand at Everton Stadium reflects into Nelson Dock

Every stone on the emotional footpath that will pay tribute to Blues past and present at Everton’s new stadium has now been sold. That means an incredible 36,000 personalised bricks will line the south stand of the stunning ground to make up Everton Way.

The final bricks were sold just after work began on the touching feature, which saw the first dedications laid last month.

The stones are inscribed with messages of love and friendship, celebrating births, marriages, passionate support for the Blues and loved ones who will now be a part of the club’s move to the banks of the Mersey.

Everton Way proved popular from the beginning. The demand led to the first tranche of bricks made available quickly selling out and the sheer volume of requests from those who missed out led to new sales windows and the widening of the path.

Those who bought stones will find out where they have been laid within the feature once the project has been completed in the summer.

Kevin O'Brien, director at Intaglio Creative Limited, the company overseeing the scheme, said as the first stones were laid in January: “When you stand at the bottom of Everton Way and look up towards the river, this is on a different scale.

"I've been involved in a lot of these up and down the country over the past 10 or so years, but here we are talking about 1,400 square metres and 36,000 individual stones, so it is without doubt the biggest personalisation project in the UK.”
