Diogo Dalot has warned Manchester United to enjoy Cristiano Ronaldo while they still can.

Despite another poor season at Old Trafford on a collective front, Ronaldo continues to be one of Europe’s most clinical marksmen.

At 37, the Portuguese great scored 18 Premier League goals and, while there is a debate as to whether or not United should be relying on a forward in the twilight of his career, his ability to perform at highest level cannot be doubted.

Whether that fits into Erik Ten Hag’s rebuild remains to be seen of course, although the Dutchman did appear to hint Ronaldo remained part of his plans.

Under contract for another year, Ronaldo himself has spoken in glowing terms about the club’s next generation and gave his seal of approval to Ten Hag, suggesting the forward sees his immediate future at the club.

Speaking to United’s official website, Dalot said: “He’s a machine, like I like to call him. Inside of the pitch, outside of the pitch, the way he works, the way he drives himself every single day to perform like this, to give us these goals and these performances.

“I think it’s a plus for this club and for the fans and, hopefully, we can stay with him for many, many years. I know he is not going to be here forever but I’m sure that he will play football for a few more years yet.

“I’m sure that he is going to do everything he can to play until the last strength that he has but it’s going to be up to him. We just need to enjoy him while he’s here.”
