Diogo Jota admits two players are better finishers than him and makes surprise Liverpool transfer claim
Diogo Jota has admitted that he thinks Mohamed Salah is a better finisher than him. And the Portuguese striker has also revealed he would to play alongside Bernardo Silva at Liverpool.
Jota has often been considered as the Reds’ most natural finisher ahead of his team-mate Salah with the likes of Jamie Carragher comparing him to fellow club legend Robbie Fowler in the past.
Scoring 64 goals from 164 appearances for Liverpool, the 28-year-old has netted eight goals from 19 matches this season.

However, as has been the case throughout his Reds career, Jota has again been stung by injury during the current campaign.
The Portugal international missed 11 games earlier in the season with an upper body impact injury while he has sat out the last three matches with a muscular issue suffered against Nottingham Forest - a game in which he scored Liverpool's equalising goal off the bench.
In contrast, Salah has scored 23 goals in all competitions so far this season from 32 appearances, having started all 29 of the Reds' Premier League and Champions League matches to date.
The Egyptian has broken the 20-goals barrier in all eight of his seasons with the club whereas Jota has managed the feat once in five years.
Coming in 2021/22 where he made 55 appearances, he instead averaged 30 appearances in his three full campaigns at the club, with his availability limiting his contributions in front of goal.
Such absences have always ensured he has never been in a position to rival Salah right at the top of the scoring charts. But Jota has admitted that he considers Liverpool's talisman to be a better finisher than him, and revealed he believes himself to be the third best goalscorer in the Premier League.
“(Erling) Haaland, Mo,” he said when asked who the best finishers in the league were. “(I’m) In the next tier, in the next tier. I think these two are the best ones, then I might be next.
“I think he (Salah) needs to be in the discussion (as Liverpool’s greatest ever player) for sure, yeah. I struggle to compare times to be honest, because it’s so different. But for sure he needs to be in that conversation.”
Meanwhile, Jota picked Bernardo Silva when asked which player he would like to see the Reds sign from a rival team. However, he admitted that he does not enjoy watching the Manchester City star play during the season due to their rival allegiances.
“For me, it’s Bernardo Silva. He’s very clever. Outstanding player,” he said. “Well… (laughs when asked if he likes watching him play for Man City). Yeah (we are friends during the season), when we go to Portugal training camps.
“He is one of my best friends there. We have a little group. But he’s a rival during the season so I don’t really enjoy him. Ahhh, this guy again.”
Jota also picked his three favourite Liverpool team-mates when speaking to ESPN. With Trent Alexander-Arnold an expected reply from the forward, Jota also opted for Alexis Mac Allister and Joel Matip.
“It needs to be someone who gives me assists!” he said. “Trent, Macca. I used to love playing with Matip, Joel.
“Everything. The way he defended, the way he takes the ball forward, he gave me a couple of assists as well. He was an outstanding player for me.”
