Liverpool boss Arne Slot has confirmed that Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez will both be in training today with his side potentially nearing a huge triple injury boost.

Defender Joe Gomez returned to training this week too, but the trio are still working their way back to full fitness. Slot had said that Portugal striker Jota would be back before Gomez a couple of weeks ago but the pair, plus Nunez, could be involved this weekend. There was no mention of Curtis Jones.

"All three are in training today," Slot said. "The question is are they already far enough to join us towards Bournemouth. That's something we have to wait and see today because we have more than 20 players available. We have to make the smartest decision for them and also for winning the game tomorrow."

Uruguayan forward Nunez would have started against PSV midweek had he not been struck down by illness, leading to a chance for Jayden Danns to play instead. Jones, meanwhile, has been missing since he limped off against Lille in the Champions League a week earlier, sitting out the win over Ipswich Town and the ultimately meaningless defeat in Europe.

"He went out during half-time, so that's mostly not a good sign," Slot had said about Jones a week ago. "He will not be available for the Ipswich game. We have to wait and see how long it's going to take. I'm not expecting months... but let's see if he’s available for PSV or Bournemouth."

Liverpool.com says: It will be a massive boost to have Jota and Gomez back in the fold, while Nunez was only missing through illness. It is unlikely any of them are involved hugely against Bournemouth but there are loads more matches coming up where they will be very useful.
