Aston Villa are alive and kicking on two fronts, fighting for a top four place in the Premier League and on the cusp of qualification for the knockout stages in the Champions League.

However, there are dents in their squad, particularly in defence with Pau Torres picking up an injury in the draw with Brighton and it would not be a surprise to see Unai Emery try to add depth at right back and in the wing positions.

They have calls to make over Louie Barry, when he returns from loan with Stockport, Emi Buendia as he needs game-time to fully recover from his knee injury and Diego Carlos' situation seems to have been fluid for the last couple of windows. There is also speculation regarding Jaden Philogene.

So there could be plenty of issues rumbling away for Emery and and Monchi. Most will know when the window opens – but here’s a run down of when it closes and what’s happening across the continent.

When does the 2025 January transfer window open?

The window for English clubs opens on Wednesday January 1, 2025.

When is Deadline Day?

The window is actually longer than a month and shuts on Monday February 3, 2025 at 11pm.

What about the rest of Europe?

The picture is pretty much the same across the other top leagues, France (1pm GMT), Germany, Scotland and Spain - also close on February 3, though times vary.

Italian clubs have until 7pm on Saturday February 1 to do their business but in Turkey the window closes on Tuesday February 11.
