Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has for the first time after making his comeback from illness over the weekend. The midfielder has missed the previous three games due to being unwell.

The Premier League game against West Ham United also saw him serve a one-match suspension due to an accumulation of yellow cards. Szoboszlai was back in the starting lineup for the weekend’s FA Cup clash against Accrington Stanley.

With the Reds 2-0 up at half time, he was taken off and replaced by Federico Chiesa, who went on to score his first goal for the club in the 4-0 victory. Liverpool will take on Championship strugglers Plymouth Argyle away in the fourth round of the competition.

But for Arne Slot and his team, concentration is on Tuesday night’s Premier League clash against high-flying Nottingham Forest, who currently sit in third place in the Premier League (8pm kick-off). They have won their seven games in all competitions.

If Szoboszlai will be fit enough to start the game at the City Ground is still to be seen, with Slot having a decision to make over whether to start him or not. But he did send a message on social media after returning to action against Accrington Stanley.

The midfielder shared pictures of himself during the game, along with a caption that read: “Great to be back on the pitch, we’re moving on to the fourth round!”

The 24-year-old has been a regular starter under Slot so far this season. His last Premier League appearance did, however, see him used as a second-half substitute in the 3-1 win over Leicester City on Boxing Day.

Szoboszlai will be hoping to help the Reds get revenge on Forest this week. Nuno Espirito Santo’s team are the only side to beat Liverpool in the league so far this season, with Forest coming out as 1-0 winners at Anfield back in September.
