Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak continues to prove himself one of the world's best strikers. The Swedish star has had an outstanding season, helping to propel the club to the brink of historic glory.

The striker was the subject of ridiculous speculation in recent weeks, and as his performances for Newcastle continue to excel, it leads to more noise from pundits and commentators about his future. Many seem unable to accept that Isak is happy on Tyneside and that the club have no intention of selling him, with United having a determination to keep the current group together, whether they qualify for the Champions League or not.

A transfer valuation of around £150million is the figure that has been bounded about over the last few months. It is a fee that is designed to not only show how highly-rated Isak is, but to scare off any interest.

It hasn't stopped more pundits and ex-pros speculating, however. Arsenal are expected to step up their search for more attacking players in the summer window after failing to sign a striker in January. Isak remains one of their key targets but former Manchester United man Paul Scholes says the player won't even consider swapping Newcastle for the Gunners.

Isak bullied Arsenal's defensive duo Gabriel and William Saliba in both legs of the Carabao Cup Final, and with Mikel Arteta's side looking unlikely to win anything this season again, the striker is better off looking at someone like Real Madrid if Newcastle ever decide to cash in on him, says Scholes.

"Everyone loves him but I don't see a possibility of him going to Arsenal," Scholes said on The Overlap. "He needs to go bigger and better.

"We're talking about Real Madrid here, Liverpool need a centre forward. I think Arsenal would be an option but I think they would be down the list of options.

"I don't mean that in a bad way but he's at Newcastle, a really good team, a brilliant team, but they're not going to win league titles, that's the next stage of his career.

"I think it would be a risk to go to Arsenal and do the same thing. Liverpool have got a much better chance, Man City and Real Madrid the same. I think his sights should be higher than Arsenal. He is a player Man United would be looking at but in the position we’re in now… it's not going to happen."

Jamie Carragher then asked if Isak had already outgrown Arsenal, Scholes replied with: "Yeah. I agree he takes Arsenal to another level, he would be brilliant and he could possibly get you over the line. But I just think there's bigger and better in him."
