We are now over halfway through the Championship season and Patrick Bamford has yet to make a league start. The striker struggled for fitness at the start of the campaign but has failed to jump ahead of either Joel Piroe or Mateo Joseph in the battle for the No 9 role.

His lack of game time has led to questions surrounding Bamford's long term future at Elland Road. Ambitious League One outfit Wrexham are chasing a third successive promotion and have been heavily linked with a January move for the 31-year-old.

But Sky Sports pundit Clinton Morrison believes it is unlikely Bamford will join the Welsh club before the closure of the window on February 3. “I’ve even seen [Wrexham] linked to Patrick Bamford," said the former Crystal Palace and Birmingham City striker. “That’s how ambitious they’re trying to be at the moment at Wrexham. Will they get Patrick Bamford? I’m not sure if he’ll want to drop down to that level and he’s on massive wages at Leeds.

“But that’s what they’re going for at the moment, that’s the window they’re shopping in.”

Bamford has featured 10 times as a substitute in the league this season. His only start came in the Carabao Cup humbling at the hands of Middlesbrough back in August.

Bamford, a late second half replacement in the New Year's Day draw with Blackburn Rovers, is expected to be part of the travelling squad for United's trip to Hull City tomorrow afternoon. The Whites travel to East Yorkshire searching for a third win on the bounce away from Elland Road. Manager Daniel Farke is poised to rotate his starting line-up following a hectic festive period.
