My dream Newcastle United transfer is arriving at St James' Park tonight and I can't wait to see him

Versatility is a favourite attribute of any player that Eddie Howe brings to Newcastle United. The Toon boss loves anyone that can play not only in one position but several - offering the manager the chance to things up away from his chosen first choice XI.

Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak are prime examples of players who are at the top of their game in their preferred positions while at the same time offering Howe a different option should he require it during the game.

Ahead of the visit of Wolves to St. James' Park, doubts over Isak's fitness have pushed the need for a new centre-forward back into the light. The Swedish international was withdrawn against Arsenal in the League Cup midway through the second half last week leaving Newcastle without a recognised striker on the pitch.

Howe admitted in his pre-match press conference ahead of Wolves that Isak hadn't trained since before that Arsenal game - and for some didn't sound confident that his no.14 would get the chance to make history and net for an eight consecutive game.

Despite William Osula's goalscoring start against Bromley in the FA Cup, the Danish striker is unlikely to replace Isak in the XI should there be a need to, meaning the responsibility would likely fall on Gordon.

Frustratingly for Howe, as much as he backs Gordon to fill any void left by Isak, it would result in a knock on effect and having to potentially rip up a winning side. Joelinton would likely go to the left flank with either Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff or Lewis Miley coming in.

It's by no means the end of the world but far from ideal with Newcastle's midfield three in Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and the aforementioned Joelinton arguably the best in the top flight right now.

The risk to Isak was always one not too far away from becoming a reality - and even if my concerns that he won't feature tonight don't ring true, the concern over him simply due to the amount of games to be played, will always be there. The injury to Callum Wilson leaves Newcastle vulnerable in that centre-forward position.

But the club also need a right-winger. Jacob Murphy is in fine form - especially along side Isak - but the need for an upgrade on that side is still a must.

Forgetting the battle with PSR for a moment, Howe and the rest of transfer team at Newcastle are set for a closer look at player who is top of my wish list - in Matheus Cunha.

The Brazilian will likely return to the Wolves XI after missing two games through suspension. With 10 goals to his name this season, Cunha has been and will continue to be instrumental to Wolves fight for survival.

Indeed their new manager, Vítor Pereira, had seen his side go unbeaten with Cunha in the team before the 25-year-old served his suspension. Wins over Leicester City and Man United plus a point against Spurs have kept Wolves out of the drop zone.

Cunha will be desperate to get back into the swing of things this evening - and should he pass a late fitness test, the forward will likely be the dangerman for Newcastle keep an eye on. For me, he is my dream Newcastle United signing.

He is a man who can play anywhere across the front-three - although more at home as a number 10 or coming in from the left, he is more than capable of doing a job on the right or as main focal point up top.

Indeed across this season, he's played 11 times as an attacking midfielder, three as a second striker, two as a centre-forward then once on either flank. That versatility is absolutely key and all builds to why Cunha is attracting attention from some top clubs, as Wolves podcaster Joshua Russell explained on The Everything is Black and White Podcast.

"Look, he's a great player, and we were fortunate enough to get him from Atletico Madrid two years ago," Jordan told podcast host Andrew Musgrove, "we paid £50 million for him which for a team that was at that point fighting relegation you would say it's a lot of money and a big investment to sort of take a chance on, but we always knew the player he was and we'd always get that money back as a minimum.

"A lot of the teams who are courting him, it's maybe like how Newcastle fans feel with Isak - he keeps saying he's happy where he is and looking to sign a new contract. But, I'm not naive or stupid enough to think if a big Champions League team comes in [Cunha won't go] and I think Newcastle will get Champions League football this year and offer him that chance to play in it.

"It will be hard for us to keep him. He's a fantastic footballer and we've had a lot of great players in the Fosun era since we came back up to the Premier League and for me he's probably the best out of the lot, and that's taking Jota, Pedro, Neves, into it.

"I do think Cunha's the best out of the lot, and he's certainly playing in the worst squad or the worst team out of the lot of them as well.

"If Cunha was to go in the summer and they're looking to do a new contract for him with a relegation release course, which is a fair one, where I think we just get our money back [if we get relegated] but if we stay up in the Premier League he's going to cost at least £70 million pounds and that's going to be challenging for a lot of teams to find that sort of money, especially with PSR."

And that is the reality check I needed - although I'm not naive enough to think that not only would Newcastle struggle to find £70 million to bring Cunha to St James' Park this month but that Wolves would let him go with their top flight status on the line.

Newcastle have reportedly looked at him - been impressed, and no surprise really given his form this season. Cunha was a slow burner - just two goals in his first half of a season in the Premier League but 12 last campaign and as mentioned 10 so far this season - he's showing himself to be quite the marksman.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that in the summer Newcastle bring him to Tyneside but for tonight, I hope he has an absolute stinker.
