Dries Mertens trolls Belgium team-mate Romelu Lukaku with NSFW tweet

Oh no he didn’t
Oh no he didn’t

You just can’t trust footballers with anything. Especially Napoli’s Dries Mertens who turned an innocuous photo of himself and his Belgian team-mates celebrating a goal into an X-rated tweet.

The Napoli forward has been absolutely smashing the goals in for the Italian side this season as they challenge for the Serie A title with Juventus; notching 21 times in 38 games for Maurizio Sarri’s side this term.

And he has been grabbing headlines already this season for his off-field antics after donning a disguise to give food to homeless people in Naples and now, trolling Romelu Lukaku very publicly on Twitter.

Belgium have been dark horses for about the last three international tournaments and ran out comfortable 4-0 winners against Saudi Arabia during the week in an international friendly, with Lukaku scorng twice, while Michy Batshuayi and Kevin De Bruyne added others.

After the game Mertens posted a fairly family-friendly photo on Twitter of him and Eden Hazard celebrating Romelu Lukaku’s second goal with a very NSFW caption.

“There are other ways to thank us for the assists Rom…” the 30-year old wrote.

Lukaku replied with a single word…

*Alan Partridge voice* It’s great banter…it really is.

Belgium, who have a side packed with European stars going into this World Cup, have three more friendlies before heading to Russia, against Portugal, Egypt and Costa Rica before opening their Group G games against Panama, then playing Tunisia and finally England.
