Jack Davies' last gasp winner saw Droitwich Spa secure a stunning 6-5 victory over title rivals Redditch Borough.

Victory in the 11-goal thriller saw Spa extend their lead at the top of uhlsport Hellenic League Division One in the clash at the Cherry Tree Stadium on Saturday (January 11).

The Saltmen found the net through Nathan Binner's brace, as well as goals from Alex Dugmore, Perry Moss, Charlie Tilley and Davies, overcoming goals from Redditch's Kyle Batchelor, Kai Del Kiffin, Kedeiah Warren-Paul and Samuel Yankson.

Losing no time, Redditch broke the deadlock after just six minutes when Batchelor headed home after Borough won a flick-on.

The visitors drew level at the 15 minute mark when Dugmore let the ball run into the path of Binner, who finished first time into the bottom left corner from 15 yards.

Dugmore added another two minutes later as he curled a sterling effort into the top left corner from the edge of the penalty area.

The Saltmen doubled their lead at the half-hour mark when Moss smashed home his own rebound.

Just two minutes later Redditch's Del Kiffin squeezed the ball into the net from the tightest of angles in the penalty area, before Batchelor sent a rocket into the bottom left corner from 25-yards out to draw the hosts level just four minutes before the break.

Spa unleashed a blitz following the half-time oranges, culminating in Tilley smashing the ball into the roof of the net from inside the box.

They extended their lead on 55 minutes when Binner's tame volley bounced in the mud before fortunately squirming through the legs of the keeper.

Redditch, refusing to back down, fought back, with Warren-Paul blasting home just 10 minutes from time.

In a twist of fate, Spa lost two players, Jamie Sauntson and Jack Brighton, to the sin-bin late.

With two extra men, Redditch seized the opportunity, and Yankson equalised as he forced the ball home just two minutes from time.

The game seemed destined for a draw until substitute Davies unleashed a powerful shot in injury time for the winner, sending the Droitwich contingent into wild celebrations.

This victory marked the third time Spa have triumphed over Borough this season in all competitions, also handing Redditch their first home league defeat of the season.

It is also the second time Droitwich managed to score six goals against Borough this season.

Looking ahead, the Saltmen are gearing up for another top-of-the-table clash on Saturday (January 18) against Abingdon United at Kingy's at 3pm.

A win would grant Droitwich an almost unassailable 15-point lead over the Oxfordshire side, which would put them well on track for a championship-winning promotion to the Hellenic Premier League, a first in the club's history.
