Dumfries Harriers athletes compete in X Border 10K race from Carlisle to Gretna
There are very few races in the world where you run from one country to another but Sunday’s X Border 10K starting off south of the border in Carlisle and finishing in Gretna is one of them.
With conditions cool and a little drizzly it was near perfect running conditions, and with a large number of Dumfries Harriers on the starting line, many of whom were hoping for PBs, the stage was very much set.
First Harrier home was Alistair Barclay in an impressive 40.56, again demonstrating his credentials before he heads to the Barcelona marathon. First female Harrier was Emma Gillooly in a swift 43.02. Next in was Alex Dingwall in 43.15 and ecstatic with a well deserved PB, taking a fantastic two minutes off his best 10k finish. Willie Martin ably demonstrated his pedigree, crossing over the line in 45.57.
