Dundee TV troll Celtic fans with brutal 'Subway Loyal' jibe live on air during Parkhead hammering
Celtic fans were hit with a "Subway Loyal" jibe live on air by the commentary team of rivals Dundee.
In the final stages of the 6-0 hammering, the men behind the mic of the Dark Blues own TV channel aimed a dig at the number of home supporters leaving the ground early with empty seats appearing. One member of the team started the discussion by saying: "As soon as it hits that 80 minute mark on the clock, I don't know if you can notice it.."
His partner shouts out: "It's the Subway Loyal," in reference to the name given to fans of rivals Rangers who leave the match early to catch the Subway home. Celtic were cruising by five goals at the time of the jibe - only for the ball to land at the feet of Nicolas Kuhn who curled home another stunner for Brendan Rodgers' side to bag a sixth goal from the home side. The pair used the strike to try and justify their point by saying: "Surely you'd want to say and find action like that.."
It was a night to forget on the pitch for Tony Docherty and his troops as they suffered a second 6-0 defeat in succession. Arne Engels got the scoring up and running from the penalty spot following a lengthy VAR check. Adam Idah then smashed into the roof of the net in first half stoppage time after Trevor Carson initially denied the striker and then Jota on the follow up effort.
The second half started with a bang and Daizen Maeda expertly headed home a diving header at the back post from Jota's inch-perfect cross before he produced a stunning lobbed effort over the helpless Carson just moments later. Engels - like his team-mate - then grabbed is second of the game from range before Kuhn put the icing on the cake with his stunner.
Boss Rodgers was delighted with the showing from the champions from start to finish. Speaking post match, he said: “The performance was right up there from minute one to the 93th minute, and I’ve got to say, the players were absolutely brilliant,” Brendan Rodgers said.
“Obviously, having played Sunday and then going into Wednesday there was not a great deal of recovery, but the attitude and the hunger in the team was impressive. And obviously our goals were absolutely brilliant.
“I thought the quality of our game was very good, but I’ve always said, I don’t lose sleep over who scores. We’ve got one winger on 18 goals and one on 17. We’ve got strikers scoring, midfield players scoring, so that’s what’s most important.”
