This Saturday Cardiff City travel to Elland Road to face league leaders Leeds United, where they will be playing against the "best team in the league", according to Bluebirds boss Omer Riza.

However, coming off an eight-game unbeaten streak, Cardiff are confident that they can bring their fight to the west Yorkshire club.

But will Cardiff's injury list hamper them? Riza stated in this week's press conference that Ollie Tanner, who suffered a bruised foot in the South Wales derby win, is unlikely to be involved. Callum O'Dowda, however, is likely to return to action after missing last week, while Joel Bagan has recovered from illness.

The return of Aaron Ramsey, one of their more experienced players, has been trailed for a couple of weeks, and there is optimism from the manager, stating that there is "still has a bit work to do" and the focus for Ramsey is "getting his numbers up in training". He is earmarked for under-21s games in the coming weeks.

Isaak Davies is another player who Riza will be hoping returns to action in February. It's evident the manager is confident he will, claiming "in 10 days to two weeks" the attacker will be back in the selection mix.

Following him in the hopes of returning next month is David Turnbull, who can add depth to the squad by coming back ahead of schedule. He was out of action late November with a hamstring injury and underwent surgery, but Riza believes he will be back in a month's time.

Ultimately, it's clear that the squad's sharpness and overall depth will be restored by the end of next month and that Cardiff can hopefully only improve from there on, continuing their impressive form.

Riza said: "We will be fully strong and with a couple of additions now before the end of the window. I think the squad will be ready to have a good go before the end of the season."

On the other hand, top-of-the-table Leeds also have a few absentees.

Pascal Struijk is one of Leeds' leading defenders, however he has been kept out for weeks due to a hamstring injury, but with Ethan Ampadu stepping up and delivering confident defensive performances and the Dutchman's return imminent, worry has eased. He remains a doubt.

The other centre-back option, Max Wober, has suffered a recurrence of his ongoing knee problems so is doubtful for the match.

Another player out of action with a hamstring issue is Patrick Bamford, however due to Joel Piroe's performances and Bamford not having netted a goal for the Whites this term, his absence is likely not to be missed.

When questioned on the current transfer window, Farke claimed "options are quite limited" and that it is "difficult to improve such a squad" due to their recent performances.

With only two players out and his faith in the squad being unchanged, it's clear Leeds remain confident than they can win against Cardiff and continue their title challenge.
