SVEN BOTMAN has been selected in the starting line-up for Newcastle United's Premier League game at Tottenham this afternoon.

Botman will make his first appearance since March as the Magpies look to secure a sixth successive win in all competitions in north London.

The Dutch centre-half has been absent for almost ten months after undergoing cruciate-ligament surgery, but came through a 45-minute appearance for the Under-21s and two behind-closed-doors practice matches last month.

Botman replaces the suspended Fabian Schar in today's starting line-up, getting the nod to partner Dan Burn at the heart of the back four ahead of Lloyd Kelly.

Eddie Howe has made two changes to the side that started Monday's win at Old Trafford, with Tino Livramento returning to the starting line-up ahead of Kieran Trippier, who drops down to the substitutes' bench.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has been dealing with a host of injury and illness issues in the build-up to today's game.

The home side are forced to name third-choice goalkeeper Brandon Austin in goal, with former Newcastle goalkeeper Fraser Forster unavailable because of injury.

Son Heung-min and James Maddison are only on the bench for Spurs, with Timo Werner a surprise selection in the starting line-up.

TOTTENHAM (4-2-3-1): Austin; Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Spence; Bergvall, Sarr; Johnson, Kulusevski, Werner; Solanke.

Subs: Whiteman, Reguilon, Dorrington, Hardy, Bissouma, Maddison, Olusesi, Son, Lankshear.

NEWCASTLE (4-3-3): Dubravka; Livramento, Botman, Burn, Hall; Guimaraes, Tonali, Joelinton; Murphy, Isak, Gordon.

Subs: Vlachodimos, Trippier, Barnes, Osula, Almiron, Kelly, Willock, Longstaff, Miley.
