Eddie Howe's exciting Newcastle claim amid Aston Villa & Nottingham Forest success
EDDIE Howe believes this has the potential to be a "great" season for Newcastle United, and says there's "no ceiling" on what the Magpies can achieve in the coming months.
United are the Premier League's form side and host Wolves tonight looking for their ninth consecutive win in all competitions.
Howe's side have climbed to fifth in the Premier League table, are 90 minutes away from a second Carabao Cup final appearance in three seasons and safely advanced into the fourth round of the FA Cup at the weekend.
Unsurprisingly, Newcastle's boss says he senses a "good feeling" in the dressing room. And the Magpies have the chance to build further momentum in the coming days, with tonight's visit of Wolves followed by another home game against Howe's former side Bournemouth on Saturday.
Both Newcastle and Aston Villa have disrupted the previous established order in the top four in the last couple of years, and Nottingham Forest are doing the same this season.
Howe won't put a limit on what his side can achieve.
"I believe anything is possible for us. I said the same last season and the season before," he said.
"There's never a ceiling on what we can achieve. The only ceiling is what we potentially put in our own way. That's an important point. I don't think we can try and put anything in our own way.
"We have to focus on ourselves. We have to continue to be the best us. We have got a great, tight-knit squad."

Asked whether it could be a "great" campaign for Newcastle, he added: "Yeah, I think this season can be.
"We’re fighting on all fronts really. I think it’s down to us. We’re coming to a key stage. Every game is potentially a pivotal moment. "We want these next run of games to be pivotal moments for the good, not the bad so you saw Brentford a really good reaction to a negative moment.
"There might come that time again when we have to respond really strongly to a difficult situation so yeah, we just have to keep trying to win games, as many as we can.”
After last season's struggles and on the back of a difficult summer, Newcastle were perhaps not expected to challenge at the top end of the table this season, but Howe insists proving people wrong was never on his agenda.
"I don't necessarily expose myself to those opinions," he said.
"That's a waste of my energy and resources. I know there are opinions out there and I'm sure opinions were based on our performances in our games and early season. Quite rightly we received some criticism. It was up to us to answer that and try and fight back in the only way that we know and that's to win games."
