THE EFL have confirmed the official start date for the 2025/26 Championship season as Saturday, August 9.

It is expected that fixtures will be scheduled across Friday and Sunday that weekend, as was the case this season.

Saints are currently on track to be relegated from the Premier League, sitting bottom of the division and 10 points adrift of safety.

The Premier League 2025/26 season dates were confirmed back in November, with the opening match round starting on Saturday, August 16.

Should Ivan Juric's side be relegated, they will be among the favourites for TV broadcast on the opening day.

Saints kickstarted the 2023/24 Championship season following their last relegation from the Premier League with a dramatic 2-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday.

Further details on key dates for the 2025/26 EFL campaign will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

League One and Two are scheduled to start a week earlier on the weekend of August 2 ans August 3.
