The first Manchester derby of the season is upon us and it’s a crucial game for both teams as they look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

Man City host Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon (4:30pm kick-off). Both teams go into the game following disappointment in their most recent Premier League outings.

City only managed to take a point from the away clash against Crystal Palace in a 2-2 draw. The match also saw Rico Lewis shown a red card in the second half.

United, meanwhile, fell to a 3-2 home defeat against Nottingham Forest. They did, however, record a midweek Europa League win against Viktoria Plzen.

Ahead of the match at the Etihad Stadium, it’s City who have the most players unavailable. Lewis’ red card means that he will serve his one-match suspension against United.

Pep Guardiola will also be without a few influential players through injury. Rodri is a long-term absentee after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Oscar Bobb as well as defenders Nathan Ake, John Stones and Manuel Akanji will all be forced to watch from the sidelines thriugh injury.

For United, there is just one player who definitely is ruled out. Left-back Luke Shaw has suffered a set-back in his recovery, just as he was making his way back from injury.

There will also be a slight doubt over the availability of central defender Jonny Evans. The 36-year-old has missed the four games in all competitions through injury.

He returned to training ahead of the Europa League clash against Viktoria Plzen, but was not included in the travelling squad for the match. Ruben Amorim now has a decision as to whether to bring him back into the squad for this weekend’s Manchester derby.
