Derby County head coach Paul Warne has made three changes to his starting XI to face Sunderland in the Championship this evening - and there is no place in the squad for Eiran Cashin.

Cashin's absence from the Derby squad comes after he was the subject of a second bid from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday. The Rams are adamant that they are not selling the 23-year-old in the January transfer window, however, DerbyshireLive understands.

While the size of the bid, nor any of details was not revealed, it does seem that the Seagulls did indeed send Derby an offer – which won't go anywhere.

With no Cashin and Curtis Nelson, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury, Warne has been forced to shuffle his pack at the back.

Jacob Widell-Zetterstrom has been an ever-present for Derby since his summer move from Djurgarden and he is in goal once again. The Swede has kept five clean sheets in his 25 Championship matches so far.

Ahead of him, however, is a much-changed defensive line. Kane Wilson, Craig Forsyth, Callum Elder and Ebou Adams are expected to play as the back-four.

In midfield, Kenzo Goudmijn and Liam Thompson are expected to be used as the double-pivot, with Marcus Harness, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Kayden Jackson and Jerry Yates in attack.

Derby are looking to end their four-game Championship losing run and secure their first win of 2025. Before kick-off, the Rams sit 19th and one point above the relegation zone. As for visitors Sunderland, they are fourth, four points behind second-place Sunderland in the automatic promotion places.

Derby: Zetterstrom, Wilson, Forsyth, Adams, Elder, Goudmijn, Thompson; Harness, Mendez-Laing, Jackson, Yates

Subs: Barkhuizen, Osborn, Jorgen Salvesen, Rooney, Ward, Blackett-Taylor, Vickers, Brown, Turley
