Eiran Cashin sends David Clowes classy message amid emotional Derby County farewell
Eiran Cashin has sent Derby County owner David Clowes a message amid an emotional farewell to Pride Park.
The young defender left the Rams to join Premier League Brighton before the January transfer window deadline. And in a parting message posted on social media, he said to Clowes: “I would like to thank you for allowing me this opportunity to develop as a player. As a fellow fan, I know how significant you have been for this club and it has been an honour to wear the badge under your leadership. I wish you, the team and the fans all the best.”
Having graduated from the club’s academy to become a cornerstone of the Derby first team, Cashin also reflected on his “unbelievable journey” at Pride Park, the highlight being winning promotion back to the Championship last season after the dark days of administration under previous ownership.

“Everyone who knows me will know just how hard this message has been to write,” Cashin added. “After 18 years of being part of this incredible football club, the time has come for me to take on a new challenge.
“Every young boy grows up dreaming of playing in the Premier League and so I couldn’t let this opportunity pass me by. However leaving the club that has made me who I am today has been one of the toughest decisions of my career.”
Cashin has signed a deal until 2030 at Brighton and Seagulls boss Fabian Hurzeler said: “We’re delighted to welcome Eiran to the club. He’s gained a lot of experience in the Championship, has a good profile and as a left-sided defender he will give us another strong defensive option.
“We’re looking forward to working with Eiran and watching him develop with us.”
