Elena Sadiku fumes at Celtic cup exit while Rangers and Hearts ease through to next round
Fuming Elena Sadiku has told her players their season cannot be undone by individual errors.
The Celtic gaffer was raging as her side were dumped out of the Scottish Cup with a 3-2 defeat to Glasgow City. It leaves them with only the SWPL title to focus on after Rangers dismissed them from the League Cup a fortnight ago. The Swede said: “We are out of both cups and I have told the girls this is not good enough. We need to step up and not make the kind of errors we did. I can’t believe how we lost that game. It is confusing. It is frustrating.”
Lucy Ashworth-Clifford had put the Hoops ahead before Brenna Lovera’s spot-kick leveller. Claire Walsh then turned the ball into her own net from Morgan Cross’ delivery but it was a different City in the second period as they took control. Within two minutes they were back on level terms when Sam van Diemen struck. Lovera netted the winner when she found the bottom corner.

City boss Leanne Ross said: “It was about the quality, individually and collectively, and it just wasn’t there in the first half. But we addressed that at the break.”
Holders Rangers had no issues booking their place in the quarter-finals as they enjoyed an emphatic 7-0 win over Montrose. Hearts eased past Falkirk with a 9-0 win, while Aberdeen scored three goals in 10 minutes to comfortably beat Hamilton 3-0.
