Eli Manning Says He Won't Pressure Son Charlie, 6, Into Playing Football (Exclusive)
The former Giants quarterback says he actually won't put pressure on his son Charlie to play football, despite it being "the family business"
If you're a Manning boy, chances are you will gravitate toward playing football.
"It's a family business," Eli Manning, 44, tells PEOPLE with a laugh.
He's of course not wrong — his father Archie Manning was a quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, and his brother is a former Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, his brother Cooper was headed to play for Ole Miss before spinal stenosis derailed his career, and Cooper's son Arch is now a backup quarterback at the University of Texas.
So no pressure for Manning's son Charlie, 6, right?
"No pressure at all," confirms Manning, joking, "I mean, we are up at 5 in the morning every day doing dropbacks and lifting weights already, but there's no pressure for him to become a quarterback or play football."
Along with Charlie, Manning is dad to daughters Ava, 13, Lucy, 11, Caroline, 9, with wife Abby McGrew,

Manning, who retired in 2020 and has since had a successful career running the popular football commentary the Manning Cast with his brother Peyton, has also been leaning into the home life, which includes watching his three older daughters get into sports as well.
"They're all playing a bunch of sports, but just sports that I know nothing about," he says with a laugh.
"My oldest is a swimmer and a big lacrosse player. My youngest daughter's a big hockey ice hockey player. My middle one's playing lacrosse and tennis. And then I got my little guy who's 6 years old, he's into right now playing flag football and basketball and baseball and playing some hockey as well."

He says he loves how active they are.
"We've got them involved in a ton of sports activities, just keeping them busy," he says. "Hopefully they can find something that they're passionate about and they love to do. But now it's more about just making friends, being great teammates, and keeping active."
As for his own workout regimen these days? He's still hitting the gym.
"Yeah, I'm still keeping up with my fitness," he says. "I kind of just go to different classes now. I was still lifting weights and doing things like that but it's just hard to schedule everything. So I kind of just join my wife at some of her workout classes, to stay active and keep moving around."
Any pilates? Yoga?
"Sure, I'll knock out some Pilates or some yoga, or just do some sort of HIIT classes where I still lift weights a little bit. Or I'll go for a run," he says. "I try to move around every day."
The devoted family man notes that this year's Super Bowl is also going to be a big family affair.
"The best part of going to the Super Bowl this year is that I get to stay with my parents," says the New Orleans native, who is also currently promoting the upcoming Verizon Fan Fest event, which is giving Verizon customers the chance to watch the Super Bowl for free at major stadiums around the country.
He adds, "So that'll be a lot of fun to be there, to get to see my parents, and both my brothers will be there too. So it's almost like a family reunion for the Super Bowl this year."
