Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund was right not to be sent off against Manchester City for his part in a clash with Kyle Walker.

Just after City had taken the lead through Josko Gvardiol's header, tempers flared as Walker pushed Hojlund to the ground on the edge of the Blues' box. The Dane was clearly unhappy with the challenge and proceeded to square up to one of City's senior players.

As the pair rowed, Walker dropped to the deck sparking both sets of players coming together before the situation eventually calmed down. VAR checked the incident but decided that referee Anthony Taylor had come to the right decision by booking both men.

Former Premier League referee Mike Dean agreed with the decision, adding on Sky Sports: "I have just had a quick look at it now. The heads have come together, there's no forward movement by the Man United player for me.

"Walker has just chucked himself to the floor so there's no violent conduct in my opinion." After seeing the replay again and hearing that VAR was taking no further action, Dean stated: "Correct decision as well, the two heads have come together but there's no need at all for Kyle Walker to go down the way he went down. No need at all."

Dean was not the only one disappointed with Walker's behaviour though as Gary Neville added: "He will be a little bit embarrassed when he sees that back."

Victory for City, should they hang on to their half-time lead, would move them six points behind leaders Liverpool in the Premier League table.
