Bromley's Emma Raducanu feels her second round Australian Open tie against 23-year-old Amanda Anisimova will be a 'big challenge'.

Raducanu secured a straight set victory over 26th-seed Ekaterina Alexandrova in the first round but struggled to find consistency on her serve.

While Raducanu is aware she must improve her service game heading into the second round, the 22-year-old is confident that her know-how will help find the balance: "I’ve had experience having teething problems with the serve and being able to come back and fix it for the next match. I’m looking forward to getting back out on the court tomorrow and working on it.”

In four outings at the Australian Open, Raudcanu has never reached the third round – falling to defeat in the second round each time. Ahead of Wednesday's test against Anisimova, the Brit believes the clash will give a good indication of her perfomance level at this stage in the season.

“I know she’s a big ball striker. She hits the ball really hard. I have practised with her a couple of times and she likes to dictate. It’s going to be a big challenge for me. She’s had some amazing results as well.

"She broke out early, so I’m looking forward to going out there, testing my game and seeing where I’m at.”

Both the youngest US Open champion and Anisimova broke through as teenagers. Their upcoming meeting provided Raducanu with a chance to reflect on rising to stardom at a young age.

“There are challenges in the sense of getting a lot of attention. Maybe certain decisions are judged or what you’re doing is potentially criticised.

"At the same time, I feel like it has given us a great platform to be able to have opportunities, to be able to invest in our team, to be able to enjoy playing on big courts, for example. Even though there are challenges, I want to look at the positive and optimistic side as well.”

Raducanu's second round match will take place on Wednesday night, with the schedule for day 5 set to be confirmed at 7 am (UK) on Wednesday.
