Chelsea: England star Conor Gallagher free to discuss transfer during Euro 2024
Conor Gallagher will be free to discuss a move away from Chelsea during Euro 2024 after Gareth Southgate said he is "comfortable" with England players discussing club transfers during the tournament.
The Chelsea midfielder is a contender to move clubs during the Euros, with the Blues preferring to sell him before June 30 to boost their chances of complying with Premier League profit and sustainability rules (PSR).
Brentford's Ivan Toney, who like Gallagher has a year remaining on his current contract, is also expected to be on the move this summer, while Crystal Palace pair Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze are expected to be the subject of interest from rival clubs.
Southgate accepts that some deals may have to be completed "quickly" during the tournament and says he is relaxed about talks over transfers.
"Look, I’ve never banned players from having [transfer] discussions," the England manager said.
"It’s a fact of life, even if transfers don’t complete, talks are ongoing, normally across the summer with players, I’m always there for them if they want to bounce things off.
“I’m always saying to them, don’t get het up about things. Things will take their natural course.
"We are in a world where there might have to be deals done quickly, who knows but we’re comfortable with dealing with all those things."
