England got off to a winning start in the World Cup opener – but how did the players rate?

Harry Kane may have stolen the show with his two goals, but it wasn’t just the Tottenham striker who stood out.

With Panama next up, who has done enough to keep their place?

Yahoo Sport takes a look a closer look at the England performance against Tunisia and rate all the players out of ten.

Jordan Pickford 6

A bystander aside from the penalty as Tunisia played for a point. A finger-tip to it, but not the palm needed to keep Sassi’s spot-kick out.

Kieran Trippier 7

Didn’t look at all out of place. Deliveries on point, runs well timed and let nothing past him.

Kyle Walker 5

Why is there always one England player who does something brainless in tournaments? Body positioning horribly wrong for the penalty, soft decision or not.

John Stones 6

Good on the ball and an error-free performance. A real threat in the Tunisia box.

Harry Maguire 8

Fearless. He played with the heart of the fan who was in France watching two years ago. Makeshift midfielder, carries the ball so well.

Ashley Young 6

Heavy touches and unconvincing going forward. Will wonder if he’s done enough to keep his place.

Jordan Henderson 7

The right decision to play him over Eric Dier. Sprayed a number of good passes and nowhere near as average as some will tell you.

Dele Alli 6

Shook off a first-half injury when many may have came off but not quite the same after it. Useful runs and kept fighting.

Jesse Lingard 6

Wasteful in the first half and his quality on the ball didn’t improve in the second. Will be worried by Loftus-Cheek’s impact.

Raheem Sterling 5

Still not finding his Manchester City form for England. Can’t blame a lack of the ball, or lesser-quality passes to him. Formation doesn’t suit him but two years and no goal not good enough.

Harry Kane 8

Who would have thought having him in the box from corners instead of taking them would work? World class.

Substitutes:

Marcus Rashford 6 (on for Sterling 68)

Lit things up when he was introduced and must start against Panama next weekend.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek 7 (on for Alli 80)

Excellent. Lively, hungry and will fancy a place next time out.
