England XI vs Denmark: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Euro 2024 game today

England are still without Luke Shaw as they face Denmark in their second match at Euro 2024, naming an unchanged side.

It was initially hoped that the Manchester United left-back could be fit to play some part in the Three Lions’ penultimate match in Group C, but he is not yet ready to be involved according to manager Gareth Southgate.

Beaten Euro 2020 finalists England got their latest European Championship campaign off to a winning start in Gelsenkirchen on Sunday night thanks to Jude Bellingham’s first-half header in a 1-0 victory over Serbia.

Kieran Trippier went down with cramp late in that match but is fit to play against Denmark and keeps his place at left-back.

Shaw - who has not played at all for club or country since February - has remained on an individual training routine ahead of the game and, although Southgate had said previously that he could come off the bench against the Danes, he has now been ruled out.

"Luke won’t be involved tomorrow," Southgate said at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday evening. "He’s actually on track for where we thought originally.

“We were hoping a couple of days ago we might accelerate that but he needs a bit more volume work. There are days when he needs to do more than the rest of the group.

"Luke’s an outstanding player, that’s why we’ve taken the decision to bring him, although he’s not played for so long. We’re hopeful that can be available as soon as possible. I don’t want to put a timeline on it here and now but he’s progressing well."

Elsewhere, Marc Guehi’s fine performance on his major tournament debut has silenced any doubt as to John Stones’ centre-back partner in Germany, while Phil Foden will hope to make a greater impact off the left flank after a subdued outing on Sunday.

Conor Gallagher replaced Trent Alexander-Arnold late on as England looked to see out the win against Serbia but Southgate continues his midfield experiment with the Liverpool man.

Victory would wrap up top spot in the group, potentially leaving Southgate free to rotate in the final game against Slovenia next week.
