Enoch Nkwe Resigns From South Africa’s Assistant Coach Post
Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced that their men’s team assistant coach — Enoch Nkwe decided to step down from the position.
Nkwe, who was appointed for the role in December 2019, is reported to have differences of opinion with head coach Mark Boucher.
The country’s national board made efforts to convince Nkwe to stay further but the Johannesburg player had made his mind to move ahead.

“While every effort was made to retain his services, Enoch has decided to focus on personal growth and professional development. This affords him the opportunity to return to the system in the future with a better sense of himself and being certain of the direction of his career,” a statement was issued by CSA.
“He has emphasised his unwavering commitment to SA cricket and especially the men’s team as they embark on a key tour to Sri Lanka in preparation for the T20 World Cup in October,” it added.
Nkwe played for Gauteng Lions and Highveld Lions during his cricketing days. He was also CSA’s Team Director for a brief time and was associated with the board for two decades as a player and coach.
The Board said it will investigate Nkwe’s issues and till then won’t comment on anything related to it.
“The Board will be taking the necessary steps to investigate and address the issues raised by Enoch. We will not be commenting further on this until the process has been completed,” the statement read.
Deeply disappointing to lose someone of Enoch Nkwe’s calibre: Lawson Naidoo
Cricket South Africa chairman Lawson Naidoo expressed his disappointment over Nkwe’s exit and hopes that he will join the board back.
“It is deeply disappointing to lose someone of Enoch’s calibre at this time, but we fully understand and respect his decision. We are comforted by the fact that he remains committed to SA cricket, and hope that he will be back serving the game that we all love. He has been and continues to be an inspiration to young cricketers and coaches, Naidoo said.
South Africa cricket team is scheduled to play three ODIs and as many T20 Internationals in Sri Lanka next month.
