Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca looks to have confirmed two big transfer decisions are imminent following a January agreement being reached. Despite having thus far not brought in new signings or sanctioned any exits, the Blues have been at the centre of numerous transfer topics.

As Maresca searches for a new winger, Alejandro Garnacho, Jamie Gittens and Mathys Tel are all of interest. With Nicolas Jackson struggling for form up top, Premier League duo Liam Delap and Matheus Cunha have been linked as potential striker acquisitions.

Regarding possible departures, several European clubs are keeping tabs on the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix, Axel Disasi and Carney Chukwuemeka. Renato Veiga is another name in the headlines and a January exit for the Portugal international has now been agreed - as per reports on social media.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Veiga is set to join Juventus on a six-month loan spell, costing the Italian club £4.2million (€5m) - with no buy-option - where the expectation is that he will be be deployed at centre-back.

Despite the injuries to Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile and most recently Levi Colwill, Tosin Adarabioyo, Josh Acheampong and Trevoh Chalobah, with the latter having been recalled from his loan at Crystal Palace, have all been utilised as opposed to Maresca playing Veiga there.

Based on that, it is perhaps no surprise the 21-year-old wants to leave on a temporary basis to prove himself in what he likely believes to be his best position. However, those selection decisions were likely made by Maresca given the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Despite that possibility, a new transfer updates suggests that Maresca does not see Veiga in that position and, therefore he could well now depart on a permanent basis this summer. According to The Athletic journalist Liam Twomey, via the Straight Outta Cobham podcast, Chelsea are also looking to sign an established centre-back this summer, as well.

Such a stance from the Blues is somewhat surprising given the centre-back options available to Maresca, even without Veiga included. However, it likely means that he will have to play his football elsewhere, at least in order to play at the centre of defence.
