Chelsea could be about to add one new player to their squad in the January transfer window.

The Blues completed 13 signings across a busy summer window ahead of Enzo Maresca's first season as the club's new manager.

Maresca has guided Chelsea to second place in the Premier League table across an impressive first half of the campaign, with the Blues also maintaining a 100 percent record in the Europa Conference League.

One player signed by Chelsea in the summer was Caleb Wiley, who arrived on a permanent deal from Atlanta United after a six-year contract was agreed with the United States international.

Less than a month after Wiley signed for Chelsea, the left-back was being sent out on loan to France with Ligue 1 club Strasbourg in order to gain regular first-team minutes.

However, Wiley has made just six appearances for Strasbourg this season and now an update has emerged on his future. According to L'Equipe, the 19-year-old could see his loan spell in France come to an end in January and return to Stamford Bridge as a result.

Wiley missed six matches for Strasbourg earlier this season with a knee injury, and is currently sidelined with a dislocated shoulder since the end of last month that has seen him unavailable for the last three Ligue 1 fixtures. A return for the left-back is not expected until the New Year, at which point it has been suggested that Wiley could be part of the Chelsea squad.

Maresca currently has Marc Cucurella as their first-choice left-back, with Renato Veiga also being used by the Blues in the position this season. Wiley's return would add depth to the defensive options at Chelsea, although the teenager has also been used on the left wing during his time at Strasbourg.
