Enzo Maresca secures exciting £29m Chelsea transfer upgrade to unlock new Cole Palmer threat
The start of 2025 means it will not be too long until Estevao Willian finally makes the move to Chelsea. Signing a number of exciting youngsters in recent seasons, Chelsea fans are desperate to see the Brazilian pull on a blue shirt for the very first time and flourish in Enzo Maresca's side.
Estevao may only be 17 years of age but he will arrive in England with a big reputation after his heroics for Palmeiras in his homeland. The west London club confirmed last June they had agreed a deal to sign the forward, with everyone having to wait just over a year for the starlet to join up with Maresca's squad.
It's no wonder why there is so much clamour to see Estevao play for Chelsea when you take a look at the numbers he achieved in his first full season for the Brazilian side. In 45 games for Palmeiras, Estevao record an incredible 15 goals and ten assists.

As impressive as his goal and assist tallies are for Palmeiras, what is perhaps even more eye-catching is the quality of his finishing and eye for a pass. His last-minute free-kick away at Cruzeiro to win the game 2-1 was certainly a standout moment in his campaign, as was his sensational strike against Atletico Mineiro that gave Matheus Mendes no chance in goal.
Demonstrating his strength to win the ball on the right touchline before driving inside towards the penalty box, Estevao let fly with a rasping drive that flew into the top corner of the net. His ability to come inside onto his left foot was there for all to see over the course of the season as he was a constant threat for his opponents.
Blessed with pace, trickery, movement and an incredible ability with the ball, Estevao's performances highlighted why Chelsea were so keen to snap him up for an initial £29million move plus add-ons. The highly-rated attacker was rewarded for his performances by winning the Breakthrough Player and Best Striker of the 2024 Brazilian Serie A season awards.
The best thing about Estevao is that there is still even more to come from him in the years ahead and he is only going to get even better. Chelsea fans are certainly licking their lips at the prospect of the Brazilian linking up with Cole Palmer, something which will undoubtedly terrify Premier League defences for years to come.
Estevao already appears to have struck up a bond with the England international after revealing so in an interview with ESPN.
"I really like this celebration [by Cole Palmer]. Ever since I signed with Chelsea I said I was going to do this celebration. We exchanged ideas, I'm happy to have this contact with him," he declared.
"I'm learning English, it's hard, it's a good technique (film without subtitles), music... I haven't visited Chelsea yet, but if I have the opportunity, now on vacation, I'll get to know the structure.
"There are Chelsea agents here in Brazil who speak to you, Palmer speaks to me on Instagram , there's [Reece] James who said that if I needed anything I should speak to him, Thiago Silva spoke to me in that last game [against Palmeiras, at the Alliaz]. He said that the club is top and they are waiting for me with open arms."
Before his move to Chelsea comes to fruition, Estevao still has plenty more football to play for Palmeiras before he departs for SW6. However, the countdown for Estevao to arrive at Stamford Bridge is very much on as we are now in 2025.
