Erik ten Hag could replace former Liverpool star who has been fired after just 27 games
Former Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has been named as one of the options under consideration to replace a fired former Liverpool midfielder in charge of Borussia Dortmund with the Dutchman having been out of work for three months.
Nuri Sahin has been fired by Dortmund with Jurgen Klopp's old team sitting 10th in the Bundesliga table (though it is only three points off the European places in Germany). Dortmund lost 2-1 to Bologna in the Champions League in Sahin's final game in charge but will still qualify for the play-off round.
Sahin, who is only 36, was impressive as a coach in Turkey with Antalyaspor, which led to him getting the Dortmund job in the summer. Twenty seven matches and just 12 wins later, he has been relieved of his duties.

"Unfortunately, we have not managed to live up to Borussia Dortmund’s sporting ambitions this season," Sahin said in a statement released by the club. "I wish this special club all the best."
Liverpool signed Sahin on loan from Real Madrid in 2012 but Brendan Rodgers never got the best out of him. The former Turkey international made just seven appearances for the Reds and played best under Klopp at Dortmund.
After moving into management, he became Dortmund's assistant coach last season and then took over full-time when Edin Terzic departed. Sky Germany reports that Ten Hag is a leading candidate to take over from Sahin, though The Athletic has claimed that Ten Hag might not be ready for a return to work just yet.
Liverpool.com says: Ten Hag, like Ruben Amorim, is a very good coach. The problem for Manchester United is that its problems run deep. Recruitment is the biggest one but it far from ends there, with the Old Trafford side facing a long route back to its former glory.
