Manchester United secured a respectable point by drawing 1-1 with Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Bruno Fernandes fired the Reds in front on the stroke of half-time with a wonderful free-kick before Arsenal responded with just over 15 minutes to go via a fine finish from Declan Rice. United had their fair share of chances either side of Rice's effort and ought to have taken all three points.

Away from matters at Old Trafford, it was once again a contrasting weekend for United's army of loanees, both domestically and overseas. The club currently has a plethora of players out on loan following the January transfer window.

With that said, MEN Sport has taken a close look at how those in action over the weekend got on.

Marcus Rashford stepped off the bench in the second half on Saturday evening as Aston Villa got the better of Brentford, winning 1-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium via a second half winner from Ollie Watkins.

Rashford came on after 68 minutes to replace Jacob Ramsey. His cameo featured more defensive contributions than attacking ones, as he completed two clearances and won two tackles.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Jadon Sancho was restored to the Chelsea starting line-up as they scraped past Leicester City with a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge. He was one of the Blues' brighter attackers and won the first half penalty that Cole Palmer subsequently missed.

Dropping down into League Two, Ethan Williams was unable to prevent Cheltenham Town from sliding to second successive defeat as they lost 1-0 at home to Colchester United. The United youngster has been in good form of late, contributing two goals and two assists in his last six appearances.

Elsewhere in League Two, Rhys Bennett started and stored 90 minutes under his belt as Fleetwood Town were denied a victory over Port Vale, drawing 1-1. The Valiants equalised via a 96th-minute penalty after Fleetwood had taken an 81st-minute lead.

Meanwhile, Joe Hugill, who is on loan at Carlisle United, appeared as a second half substitute as they were beaten 1-0 in the 95th minute away at Harrogate Town.

However, Ethan Ennis, who is currently at Doncaster Rovers, Sonny Aljofree, who is at Accrington Stanley, and Sam Mather, who joined Tranmere Rovers last month, were each unused substitutes on Saturday afternoon. Ethan Wheatley and Louis Jackson did not feature in the Walsall or Tranmere matchday squads respectively.

In the National League, young centre-back Jack Kingdon started and stored 90 minutes under his belt as Rochdale beat Wealdstone 4-1 at the Crown Oil Arena. They now find themselves just two points shy of the final play-off spot, and they have games in hand on those immediately above them in the table.

Overseas, Antony started as Real Betis edged past Las Palmas on Sunday, winning 1-0. Despite not claiming the assist for or scoring the winner, he produced five key passes to help them record a fourth straight league win.

Elsewhere, Tyrell Malacia was a very late substitute, appearing off the bench in the final minute, as PSV Eindhoven bounced back from their 7-1 mauling at the hands of Arsenal in the Champions League last week with a 2-1 win over SC Heerenveen. Malacia has made six appearances for the Dutch club thus far.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Radek Vitek helped Blau-Weiss Linz seal a 2-1 away win over Wolfsberger AC in Austria. He has kept six clean sheets in 17 matches this term.
