Erik ten Hag signing's future clear after Ruben Amorim's first week on Man United touchline
When reflecting on his first week in the Manchester United dugout, Ruben Amorim and the supporters will be relatively pleased with what they have seen.
The Portuguese head coach's warm presence around the camp has proven fruitful with United still unbeaten since Amorim took charge of the club. It could be argued that little can be gauged from such a run considering the calibre of opposition.
Ordinarily United would have been expected to win all three games but a draw at Ipswich, considering where the club was prior to Erik ten Hag's sacking can be overlooked. It is perhaps too early to even gauge whether the Reds will be a success under Amorim but with Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur all to come in the next five fixtures, we are going to have a better read on that soon.

What can be drawn from this week is which players are likely to be kept and which are destined for the exit door. Amad and Antony both find themselves under this gaze for polar opposite reasons.
On the one hand, we have the Ivorian who has adjusted to right wing-back like a duck to water and is creating chances, scoring goals and being an overall threat across the pitch. On the other we have Antony, who seems completely out of place in this post-Ten Hag United.
Even before his old boss left, Antony was struggling to live up to his hefty price tag but now it seems even harder to see a future for him at the club. It is not only Amad who is ahead of him in the pecking order either - Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and an out of position Bruno Fernandes are all more likely to start ahead of him.
His plight at Old Trafford only worsens when you consider the fact that Amorim will want to add his own players to this squad in the upcoming transfer windows and to do that, he will need to sell players to drum up funds. You have to imagine that Antony is at the top of the list to be sold.
In fairness to Antony, he could argue that he hasn't been given much of a chance under Amorim yet. However, his start against Bodo/Glimt left much to be desired and he failed to stake his claim for a regular spot.
The Portuguese head coach has tried out plenty of fringe players in his first week and some have taken their chances. For instance Joshua Zirkzee, who started against Everton and bagged twice despite his time at Old Trafford looking to be drawing to a close.
Antony meanwhile seems unable to discover that renaissance. Two options are now on the table for United - they either sell the Brazilian permanently in January or they loan him out in the hope that he can rediscover his confidence.
Remaining with the Reds as a bench warmer is not the right move for either party and deep down, Antony probably knows it.
