Former Arsenal star Mikael Silvestre has mocked Erling Haaland ahead of the clash with Manchester City in the Premier League this afternoon.

The two teams last met back in September in what was a heated affair as both clubs aimed to gain an advantage in the title race. Despite Haaland giving City an early lead, Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes both scored to put the Gunners in the ascendency.

However, Leandro Trossard's petulant booting of the ball after play had already been stopped, earned him a second yellow card and left Arsenal with a mountain to climb to stay ahead. Unfortunately for the Gunners, they lost out in the last minute as John Stones stabbed home to ensure the points were shared.

After the final whistle, emotions boiled over with City's Norwegian striker at the centre of it. He was caught on camera telling Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to 'stay humble,' in reference to his team's behaviour in the title race.

This would come back to bite Haaland though as City would finish 2024 dreadfully and effectively eliminate themselves from the title race. Heading into the match at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon, the Blues sit six points behind Arsenal.

Unsurprisingly, this match has a lot of attention across the world and Silvestre has been called up by beIN SPORTS to cover the action as a pundit. Ahead of going live, the former defender took to social media to give his followers a glimpse behind the scenes.

Using U2's 'Beautiful Day' as a backing track, Silvestre captioned the clip: 'Staying humble,' accompanying it with a laughing emoji in a clear reference to Haaland's comments earlier in the season. Haaland starts up front for City this afternoon.
