Erling Haaland has sent a clear message to Manchester City's title rivals, stating the team is on a "mission" after his stunning four-goal performance helped dismantle Wolves in a 5-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium.

The Norwegian striker, who has battled through injuries to amass an impressive tally of 36 goals this season, was pivotal as City kept hot on the heels of league leaders Arsenal. Following Mikel Arteta's side's win over Bournemouth, City's triumph ensured they stayed just a point behind the Gunners, with Arsenal having played one more game and only three matches remaining.

Haaland, who has now scored 36 goals in an injury-hit campaign, said: “It was a great game. It was important win, obviously, and fantastic to score four goals. It was a difficult game.

"They can play football so it was not easy but we were solid and we’re on a mission. Now focus on the next one. I’m confident but we have to keep going, we have to push and focus.”

Manchester City's quest for the top spot continues as they prepare to face Fulham next Saturday, followed by away games against Tottenham and a final home match against West Ham. Given City's track record and an unbeaten streak that spans 20 Premier League games- 16 of which they've won - their form poses a significant threat to Arsenal's title hopes, especially with Haaland back in peak condition.

Haaland scored a brace of penalties and a soaring header on Saturday evening, all within the first half. Wolves' Hwang Hee-chan did manage to pull one back but Haaland responded swiftly with an outstanding finish before substitute Julian Alvarez rounded off the scoring.
