Arsenal remain on course for a Premier League title challenge after crushing Manchester City 5-1 on Sunday, in stark contrast to Erling Haaland's efforts making him the centre of attention at the reverse fixture - and Arsenal fans in football.london comments sections say the striker has been given his just deserts.

The last time the two teams met, City battled back for a draw in the final moments when Arsenal went a man down. As the Manchester team celebrated, Haaland threw the ball at defender Gabriel, and told manager Mikel Arteta to "stay humble".

The tables were turned on Sunday as Arsenal delivered a free-scoring second half, highlighted by young star Myles Lewis-Skelly's first Premier League goal to make it 3-1. He mocked Haaland by copying his trademark "meditating" celebration, getting his own back for a clash with the Norwegian back in September.

Haaland kept his distance from the celebrating Arsenal squad at the end of the match this time, going to thank the travelling away fans instead.

Fans on our Arsenal Facebook page were quick to remind the City striker about his antics last year. Reader Julie Portman says: “Unfortunately Haaland must learn from this... stay humble and show some respect to the boss.”

Justin Smith agrees: “Karma comes around for Haaland. Telling others to stay humble when your ego is out of control!” Edward Soo writes: “We celebrate! Couldn’t be a worst humble pie for that brute Haaland!”

Garry J Carr says: "Perhaps he will keep his mouth shut now he knows he can't take it back?" Satyajit Sarkar writes: "Feels like EPL trophy satisfaction. One of my best days of being an Arsenal fan. Love you for life. Gunners you make us proud, very well done. I am sure City and Haaland are HUMBLED now."

Lewis-Skelly's goal and celebration was a big moment for Linus Edeigba: “This guy's confidence is something else.” Owoeye Olawale Amos says “Legend in the making. A future captain. Well done, a boy with lion's heart.”

In our comments section, readers were delighted at the continuing title charge. Hugh1942 says: “Even at half-time I did not see it coming! Still do not know how it all happened but we did start to shoot! Looking forward to watching a replay.

"Playing the way we did in the last twenty minutes, we can beat Newcastle! Just keep shooting, especially Martinelli. When he goes, the team goes!”

Gunnerssg says: “I hope this morale boosting double over champions Man City this season will be the start to us Gunners snatching the title from Liverpool by the season's end.”

Gamuzu agrees: “Excellent display. Hope this will motivate the team to charge for the trophy.”
