Ethan Ampadu has admitted that picking up the three points was the "main thing" after Leeds United defeated Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 on Sunday. Daniel Farke's side ran out as comfortable winners at Elland Road thanks to goals from Manor Solomon, Largie Ramazani and Ao Tanaka.

It's a result that moves Leeds back to the top of the Championship table. The Whites had moved down to second spot - after Sheffield United's win over Norwich City on Saturday - but they soon restored their spot at the summit following their hard-fought success against the Owls.

And Ampadu, who has returned to the Leeds XI in recent weeks after missing a sustained period of time with his knee injury, was delighted that the Whites could get another deserved win on the board.

"It was fun and enjoyable," he told Sky Sports. "We know what derbies are like. We knew it was going to be big for the fans. We wanted to get our good run going here. Three crucial points and that's all that matters.

"I said for a long time that I'm happy to help the team any way I can, whether that's as a defender like today, then so be it. Who knows what it will be on Wednesday. I'm just happy to play football. I'm enjoying it and coming back from injury. As long as we can keep winning, that's the main thing that matters.

"It's what you want. You want to be fighting for promotion - and want to be fighting to win a league. We know it's nowhere near done yet, and there's still going to be ups and downs, but we have got to keep focused. I don't want to do clichés, but we have got to focus on Wednesday now.

Meanwhile, Ramazani - scorer of Leeds' second goal with a late strike - admitted he was "lucky" to find the back of the net. "It was a great feeling," he added. "My time came and I was patient. I was lucky and happy.

"I'm just pushing myself every day. My teammates are helping me get my confidence and this is what I can do."
