Euro 2016: England win all their group who are crowned champions? - Football Manager sims Euro 2016

France will win their third European Championship, according to a simulation of the tournament using Football Manager 2016.

Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette is particularly impressive for Les Bleus as he scores four goals during the tournament including the deciding one in the final against Italy. Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann are two other notable performers for the host nation as they maintain their record of winning every tournament that they’ve hosted.

Italy have an unlikely route to the final after finishing second in their group to Belgium before facing Portugal, England and Spain in the knockout rounds. A good team effort throughout the tournament makes them one of the hardest sides to break down but, ultimately, the run of consecutive tough matches cost them in the final.

Germany and Spain are losing semi-finalists but are the two of the highest scoring sides at Euro 2016. Thomas Müller wins the Golden Boot award while Spain’s most consistent performer, Koke, is rewarded with a place in the Team of the Tournament.

Elsewhere, England once again experience heartbreak in the quarter-finals of a major tournament as they lose out to Italy in the last eight. There are signs of encouragement though as they comfortably win all three matches in their group and easily dispatch of Romania in the last 16.

Wales produce one of the best performances in the group stage to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition but lose a tightly contested last sixteen game to Austria by a single goal. The other Home Nations are both unlucky to miss out on a place in the last sixteen with both Northern Ireland and Ireland scoring in every group match.
