John Eustace says Rovers are working hard to get “another couple of players” through the door before tonight’s deadline.

The Lancashire Telegraph confirmed earlier today that Yuri Ribeiro was closing in on a move to Ewood Park, although that deal has not been finalised at the time of writing.

Rovers have brought in Dion Sanderson, Adam Forshaw and Augustus Kargbo in the January window so far.

“The club are working very hard to get another couple of players in for today,” Eustace said at his pre-match press conference.

“I know Rudy (Gestede), Steve (Waggott), Adam Owen and Suhail (Shaikh) are all working really hard to get the players in. Fingers crossed, that will happen.”

Owen Beck is Rovers’ only left-back option while Harry Pickering is out injured, although Ryan Hedges has played as a wing-back at times.

Rovers have also been looking to bolster their strike options, with Yuki Ohashi facing another three to four weeks on the sidelines.

“I think you can see that is where we are light so that would be great,” the head coach continued.

“Obviously O-chan is still three or four weeks away and Becky is obviously our only left-back at the moment so those are the areas we will certainly look to improve on.”

Eustace also confirmed that Joe Hilton is set to join Bradford City after an offer was accepted for the 25-year-old goalkeeper.

“There is a fee agreed with Bradford so I think Joe is going to be leaving us,” he said. “He is a fantastic young professional and now it is time for him to go and really establish himself as a number one.”

Eustace is not expecting any other outgoings before the window closes tonight at 11pm.
