Everton make the trip to the Amex Stadium today to take on Brighton & Hove Albion (3pm kick-off). And the Blues will travel in good spirits after recording the first win of the returning David Moyes' reign.

The 3-2 victory at home to Tottenham Hotspur was not only badly needed, the manner of it was also impressive. Moyes' revived side tore into their struggling opponents and were three goals to the good at the break.

And while a late wobble underlined the fact that some of the issues have blighted the Blues this season remain, the success has lifted spirits within the squad and within the fan base.

But can Everton follow it up with another positive result this afternoon? Standing in their way are a Brighton buoyed by their 3-1 triumph at Manchester United.

So how does Blues boss Moyes line-up? Our writers have their say...

I don’t want to be swept up in a post-Spurs wave of delirium but I enjoyed that win and, what’s more, I enjoyed the performance (apart from fearing for my match report after Richarlison scored).

It is hard to make a case for any changes to the team as a result. Last week I would have opted for three at the back and to give Jake O’Brien a first start. But I did not envisage him being used in the manner he was, nor with Jesper Lindstrom operating as a makeshift wing-back at times, as he did so well.

The move was outside-the-box thinking and it was effective. For all that Spurs have deficiencies in their squad, scoring goals is not one of them, but until the closing stages Everton were solid while still offering a threat going forward.

In the long term I would like to see Iliman Ndiaye in a central role but I thought it was impressive how Moyes’ tweaks allowed him to stay further forward and exploit space. He didn’t have the same defensive responsibility as Lindstrom, which made Everton slightly lopsided but it worked and Ndiaye was excellent with the additional freedom.

When he is fit I would like to see James Garner get a chance, maybe instead of Abdoulaye Doucoure, but this will be a game too early for me.

My team (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Mykolenko, Branthwaite, Tarkowski, O’Brien; Ndiaye, Gueye, Doucoure, Mangala, Lindstrom; Calvert-Lewin

Everton’s 5-1 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion the season before last was probably their most spectacular display under Sean Dyche but with the Seagulls currently one of the most formidable forces in the Premier League outside the established powers, David Moyes acknowledges that his team are facing a stern test at the Amex Stadium.

In truth, the Blues should have triumphed again on the Sussex coast last time out when Jarrad Branthwaite’s measured finish put them ahead but despite the hosts being reduced to 10 men after Billy Gilmour’s sending off, they earned a share of the spoils in stoppage time through Lewis Dunk’s stoppage-time header to ensure what became a club record winless streak in the Premier League continued last February.

The returning Everton manager might have a few more tactical surprises up his sleeve but on face value, with the potential major injury blow of Dwight McNeil facing knee surgery, he could be tempted to keep with the line-up that overcame Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 last time out.

The debate over whether it was a back four or five continues, but whatever it says on paper, the fluid system should be given another chance here.

My team (4-2-3-1): Pickford; O’Brien, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Gueye, Mangala; Lindstrom, Doucoure, Ndiaye; Calvert-Lewin.

What a sight it was to see an Everton team taking the game to a team at Goodison Park. Yes, Tottenham Hotspur are a side beset by injuries and drained of confidence, but take nothing away from the way the Blues attacked. It was night and day compared to some of the football served up at the end of Sean Dyche's reign.

So should the Blues go gung-ho again today? I'd say not. While they have a good record at the Amex Stadium, they have to be careful about being picked off by a vibrant Brighton team that have now won three on the spin after an eight-game winless run.

But that does not mean David Moyes has to change personnel. Potentially Nathan Patterson could come in for Jake O'Brien at right-back if the Everton manager prefers to play an out-and-out back four. But that would be harsh on O'Brien, who showed plenty of promise against Spurs. As did the rest of his team-mates who started that vital victory.

So no changes for me.

My team (4-2-3-1): Pickford; O’Brien, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Gueye, Mangala; Lindstrom, Doucoure, Ndiaye; Calvert-Lewin.
