David Moyes is hopeful Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be fit to face Aston Villa.

Calvert-Lewin missed Everton's FA Cup third round victory over Peterborough last Thursday due to an ankle injury, but has now resumed training. Seamus Coleman is also expected to be available for selection, having stepped up to take temporary charge of the team after Sean Dyche was sacked and before Moyes’ return to Goodison Park.

Speaking in his first press conference after taking the Everton job, Moyes said: “Dominic has trained today (Monday), so we think he should be okay. Dwight (McNeil) is not. He’s got a little bit of an ongoing knee issue, as far as I know.”

On-loan Chelsea forward Armando Broja is also set to miss the Villa clash, after being taken off on a stretcher against Peterborough.

Moyes continued: “He (Broja) is going for another scan. I think there’s a little bit of mixed (feeling) – one moment we’re not thinking it’s not too bad, so that’s why we’re doubling up (with the scans). We’re just waiting on a bit of swelling to go down before he goes for a scan and hopefully we’ll get a better idea in the next few days.”

James Garner trained on Monday as he steps up his recovery from a back issue. Tim Iroegbunam (foot) and Youssef Chermiti (thigh) remain unavailable for the Toffees ahead of Wednesday night’s clash with Villa (7:30pm).
