Every goal Man United have conceded from set-pieces under Ruben Amorim amid 'can't cry' admission
Manchester United have faced scrutiny in recent weeks for their defending of set-pieces after they conceded six goals from dead ball scenarios in seven matches.
Two of those were scored directly from corners, although they both prompted protests towards the referee for opposition players interfering with the goalkeeper. Speaking after United's most recent defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ruben Amorim refused to be drawn on claiming for fouls but instead insisted they need to learn and do the same thing.
"You can do everything inside the box and that is the rules," the Portuguese coach said. "So we can't cry about it, we have to do the same. We have to focus on doing the same to the opponent and that is my goal at the moment.

"If set-pieces have become so important, you can do everything, so we have to learn it and do the same thing. Even with the small guys. We just have to copy and do the same thing, not change try to change the rules, just use the rules to also score from a set-piece."
With that being said, MEN Sport have looked at each of the set-piece goals United have conceded under Amorim so far. One concern is that they have conceded more than one in a single game twice, so it's certainly an element of their defensive game the manager will need to fix sooner rather than later.
Arsenal 2-0 Manchester United - Jurrien Timber
The Premier League defeat against Arsenal was the start of United's set-piece struggles under Amorim. Early in the second half at the Emirates on December 4, Declan Rice swung in a corner towards the near post and Jurrien Timber rose the highest to flick a header beyond Andre Onana.
Arsenal have become renowned for their ability to capitalise on set-pieces. Since the start of the 2023/24 campaign, they have scored more than 20 goals from corners, which means United should have been alive to their treat.
Arsenal 2-0 Manchester United - William Saliba
Later in that same game, Arsenal struck again. Low and behold, it was another set-piece routine that undid Amorim's side.
This time, it was Bukayo Saka's corner that swung towards the back post and was met by Thomas Partey, who was able to head the ball across goal. It struck William Saliba's backside and nestled into the back of the net.
Manchester United 2-3 Nottingham Forest - Nikola Milenkovic
A few days after the Arsenal defeat, United were beaten 3-2 by Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford. The visitors opened the scoring inside the first few minutes, unsurprisingly from a set-piece.
A corner was whipped in from the right by Elliot Anderson and it was Nikola Milenkovic who rose above Lisandro Martinez to power a header beyond Onana. It took just two minutes and one set-piece for United to be exposed.
Manchester City 1-2 Manchester United - Josko Gvardiol
The Manchester derby ended in a positive result for Amorim's side as they got the better of a struggling City side. However, it was the hosts who initially took the lead at the Etihad through Josko Gvardiol.
Just after the half hour mark, City took a corner short. The attempted cross took a fortunate deflection off Amad as it looped into the penalty area, but Gvardiol made sure to take full advantage as he nodded the ball across goal and into the back of the net.
Tottenham 4-3 Manchester United - Dominic Solanke
United's Carabao Cup quarter-final defeat was another game in which they conceded more than once from a set-piece. The first came early in the game as a free-kick routine from Spurs was worked out to Son Heung-min on the left.
It was then shifted back to Yves Bissouma in the middle and he found Pedro Porro. The defender then unleashed an effort from range, which was saved by Altay Bayindir, but straight into the path off Dominic Solanke.
The striker reacted quicker than everyone and beat the offside trip to slot the rebound home. United's defenders were all caught ball watching and were simply too slow to respond.
Tottenham 4-3 Manchester United - Son Heung-min
Despite United's attempts to mount a surprise comeback, they were undone by another set-piece later in the game. This time Son lifted a corner directly into the back of the net.
Bayindir couldn't reach it and Noussair Mazraoui was caught off guard as it reached the far corner. This was the second game under Amorim in which United conceded more than once from a set-piece.
Manchester United 0-3 Bournemouth - Dean Huijsen
Before Christmas, United were comfortably beaten 3-0 at home by a high-flying Bournemouth side. The first of the three goals on the night was, shock horror, a set-piece.
A free-kick from the touchline out on the right was whipped in by Ryan Christie. Dean Huijsen was able to get away from Joshua Zirkzee and, unchallenged, head the ball into the back of the net.
Wolves 2-0 Manchester United - Matheus Cunha
Last up is Thursday night's defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Amorim's side were reduced to 10 men as Bruno Fernandes was sent off for a second yellow card, which made United even more vulnerable at set-pieces.
Matheus Cunha whipped in a corner and, with nobody defending the back post, it flew straight into the far corner. Mazraoui was nowhere to be seen as it floated above Onana and any claims from the goalkeeper for a foul were waved off by the referee.
