All of the top clubs in England would sign Aaron Ramsey on a free transfer if he leaves Arsenal, believes Perry Groves.

The Welsh midfielder looks set to end his association with the Gunners after a decade in north London, with a four-year contract offer taken off the table by the club.

Groves says the decision will be Emery’s, who will have decided he is not suited to his style of play, although Groves thought he would enjoy playing under the Spaniard.

But given Ramsey’s qualities and his attitude, Groves does not think there will be a shortage of takers when he does leave in the next ten months.

“It’s all down to Unai Emery – if he wanted him, the deal would still be on the table,” Groves told Yahoo Sport presents: The Football Show.

“So I think he’s seen him play in the first six or seven games and thought: ‘I thought you could be the 10, but you’re not the 10 I need’ – and I think Banega is the one that he is going after.

“That comes down to Emery. Personally I’d have kept the deal on the table, so if Aaron Ramsey thinks I’ve got nowhere else to go, he still has that option. By withdrawing it it means the manager does not want him.”

He added: “I thought he’d suit the way that Unai Emery wants to play, because he wants to play the high-pressing and closing down game.

“He will now just let the contract run down and if he is going on a free, trust me, anyone in the top four would take Aaron Ramsey on a free.

“To get a player with his quality and his attitude on a free – forget the wages – he’ll have a lot of options.”
