Enzo Maresca has just conducted his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea's Premier League clash with Bournemouth on Tuesday evening.

The Blues are looking for their first victory in the top-flight for almost a month as the high-flying Cherries come to Stamford Bridge. Just over 24 hours before the clash, Maresca spoke to the media about a variety of topics in his press conference. Below, you can read every word the Italian had to say...

How are Reece James and Romeo Lavia after playing 45 minutes on Saturday?

"Yes, yes, we are very happy for both. They played 45 minutes the other day and now they are available for the next games."

And they can complete the full 90 if you want them to do so?

"Yeah. As I said since we've started, we are going to try and manage them both because they are a bit delicate situations."

Is Noni Madueke okay?

"He is back. He is back and training with us, so he is 100% fit."

We know you need some to go out this window. Is there any movement with Carney Chukwuemeka or Ben Chilwell?

"We don't need players to go out. It is simply because some players want to play more and it will be a chance for them to."

Is there any solid movement at the moment?

"Not at the moment."

On Chilwell, how has been handled all of this?

"He has been top. I have to say that, he has been top; very professional, he works hard. I feel shame because of that situation but in terms of behaviour, he has been very good."

Trevoh Chalobah didn't play in the FA Cup due to a 'contractual issue' - was that because Chelsea didn't want him to be cup-tied?

"No idea. I didn't even know that he didn't play, to be honest. I don't know."

Renato Veiga - if you believe what you read, an agreement has been reached with Borussia Dortmund. Is there any truth in that?

"At the moment, I am not aware that there is an agreement for Renato. The only thing I can say is that yesterday he was here working with us, today he will be here with us. At the moment, he is our player. We will see if something happens but he was working yesterday and will work today. I am not aware of any agreement for him."

Apparently he wants to become a centre-back...

"The only thing I can say is we bought Renato from Basel. He arrived here, played in different positions, played well and this allowed him to join the national team for the first time in his life, senior national team. Probably even if he is not playing in his position, if he is playing for the national team, then that probably means that in the position he is playing, he can do well.

"We are very proud of all our players that can join national teams. Especially in this case, with young players of 21 or 22 that join us and start to play in different positions, four or five different positions, that will give him the chance to join the international team. So we are very proud about that."

Win under your belt in the FA Cup. Will that help you kick on in the Premier League?

"For sure, a win always helps you continue with wins. Hopefully we can build some momentum but Bournemouth will be a very different game. They are a very good team with the same manager from a different season. They are very tough, they are very intense and the reason they are doing well this season is because they work very good."

Bournemouth are some of the pressers in the league. Your tight-space players like Cole Palmer, Joao Felix and Jadon Sancho really helped there. What tactical battle are you expecting this time around?

"More or less a similar one in terms of they are intense. It is quite clear what they want to do on and off the ball. On the ball, they are quite direct and have players up front that are very strong, physically and they are quick.

"Off the ball, they are intense, they are most of the time on the opposite side man-to-man. It will be a tough game."

Is there any plans to use Cole Palmer on the right wing again with an overlapping right-back?

"Could be. You mentioned that with Cole playing wide, then the full-back would overlap but when the full-back overlaps, Cole already goes inside the pitch. In the end, he ends up in the same position. It's just the starting position, then the ball moves and Cole changes position.

"I think he played on the right in the first game of the season against City but with Malo Gusto overlapping, Cole would finish in the same position, in the pocket. But I prefer to see Cole inside."

Reece James has played in a variety of different positions for you. Can you see him being an overlapping full-back again?

"For sure, full-backs being used in that way, up and down, for them, it is probably physically using more energy. But I am not a fan of full-backs up and down. Our full-backs, Malo Gusto, Reece James, Cucurella, we don't use them up and down.

"The only game we use them as proper full-backs was the Palace one. I am not a fan of full-backs up and down."

Where do you believe James' best position is?

"Everywhere. He can play everywhere. He [journalist] asked me about Renato playing in four or five different positions, Reece James is doing the same, Cucu is doing the same, most of the players are doing the same. Talking about positions, for me, today in football you have to be a football player playing in different positions. They are all football players and you can teach them to play in different positions."

Have you spoken to Veiga about where his head is at?

"I had the chat with Renato. I said to him exactly the same thing as I just said to you in terms of playing in the position he is playing with us and how it gave him the chance to join the international team and also gave him the chance to have speculation around him. That means clubs are probably looking for him and looking for players that are doing well, well with the club and well with the national team.

"If there was a player that just wanted to play in one position, they are going to struggle today. They have to adapt; they have to play in different positions, learn to play in different positions because it is a good thing for the team and for the club."

How did he take that because I presume he wants to play regularly?

"[Laughs] Yes, but I said many times, I also want the long hair. We have 25 players that all want to play but it is not possible."

Is keeping everyone happy becoming more of an issue?

"If we can, yes, but it is impossible because the ones that are not playing are not going to be happy. Our target is to, first of all, to do the best for the club and the team - that means trying to win games. Also, if we can keep players happy, then we are happy but that is not the reality: the players are happy just if they play and if they don't play, then they are not happy."

Is that why you have to move players out in January?

"Yeah but if you told me all the players that are not happy, we would be here with 12 players. Our intention is not to move players."

Why hasn't it worked for Ben Chilwell? Why doesn't he fit in here?

"First of all, because it is my choice. I can see Malo Gusto, Reece James or Cucurella doing different kind of jobs during the game. Chilwell is a top full-back, probably doing the job up and down and giving him the opportunity in the past to win titles, to be with international team but I struggle to see Ben doing different type of things."

Nicolas Jackson hasn't scored in almost a month. Is it difficult now to manage expectations with him?

"Just to continue to work in the way he is working. As you said, he scored many goals at the beginning of the season. Now, there are games where he is not scoring but we are completely happy with Nicolas.

"We don't judge Nicolas just because of the goals. We judge Nicolas for different kinds of things and as I said already, I spoke with Nicolas a few days ago. Last year I think he scored 14 or 15 goals in the Premier League without penalties. [Erling] Haaland, penalty, [Mohamed] Salah, penalty, Cole Palmer, penalty.

"If you score 14 or 15 goals in the Premier League and you have four or five penalties, no more than that, then in the end it is 20 goals for a striker. This year, he scored already nine or 10 goals. For Nicolas, he is doing well, he is scoring goals with us without penalties and that is not normal for a No.9. Normally No.9s have penalties. We are completely happy with Nicolas.

"For sure, he is going to score goals. Also he is a bit unlucky because in those games he didn't score, he had great chances to score. Sometimes you will score but he has to continue in the same way."

As a player who was a defender like yourself, what advice would you give to Nicolas Jackson?

"I was an attacking midfielder [laughs]. Anyway, Nicolas, he has to continue to work and for sure he will score goals."

Is Trevoh Chalobah someone you would be interested in working with again if the club were to recall him this month?

"I said already last press conference, he is a Palace player and I think it is a lack of respect. The reason why I think all the managers always say the same is because he is a Palace player. If I start to talk about Trev, it's not respect for [Oliver] Glasner, if Oliver starts to talk about our players then it is probably not good for me.

"He is a Palace player. He was here with us working in pre-season very well and then he left. Now he is a Palace player."
