Enzo Maresca has just faced the media ahead of Chelsea's FA Cup fourth round tie with Brighton on Saturday evening.

The Blues head coach has just previewed the cup tie at the Amex Stadium and also spoke about the club's transfer window business. It made for a fascinating press conference from Maresca and you can read every word from it down below...

"Marc unfortunately has a bad injury. Nico is better."

Is Jackson fit for this weekend then?

"Could be. It also could be a risk but we'll see. But it doesn't look a long injury?"

Guiu is long-term?

"Could be."

Can you tell us any more?

"No because we are still waiting. It doesn't look a short injury, it looks a long injury. Exactly how long, we don't know. Probably weeks or months."

Any update on Romeo Lavia?

"No. Romeo is still in the process to come back but there's still a long way to go."

Are you confident you have enough cover up front?

"Yes, absolutely; before the last game, we had two strikers, Nico and Marc. Sometimes we adapt also Christo [Nkunku] there but in case both of them are out, we are going to find a different solution."

Reflecting on the transfer window, how happy were you with the business you did? Would you have liked to have added a striker?

"No, I said after the West Ham game that the things that we planned in terms of players that had the desire to leave and the players that we need. In the end, I think we did all of the things we needed."

Could Nkunku play a bigger role going forward?

"Yes, for sure, for sure. I spoke already last week about Christo. Against West Ham, he played already more or less half an hour. From now on, he can hopefully get some more minutes and help us."

Can you see him showing his best side and showing his potential?

"Absolutely. I was with the club and we were sure before the transfer window that Christo was one of the players that our intention was to keep him."

What happened with Joao Felix? Earlier in the window, you said you wanted to keep him but then he was allowed to move to AC Milan...

"Nothing happened. Players train every day and want to play all of the games but unfortunately there are just 11 playing all of the games. We decided, all together, that it was a good option for him to leave."

What did he say to you? Was he frustrated?

"No, to be honest, he never complained. He has been very good with us, professional, just a matter of my decision. The reason why is because I think we need defensive balance and when you have so many attacking players, sometimes you can concede transitions and goals. I don't like that."

Are Cole Palmer and Lavia in the Conference League squad?

"We'll see. It depends a little bit on the injury from the last game so we are going to decide in the next hours."
