Every word Enzo Maresca said on Chelsea transfer plans, dropping Robert Sanchez, West Ham United
Enzo Maresca has just faced the media ahead of Chelsea's Premier League clash with West Ham United on Monday evening.
The Blues welcome the Hammers to Stamford Bridge on what happens to be transfer deadline day as well. So, there were - as you would predict - a fair few questions about the club's transfer plans, as well as the game itself. Here is the full transcript from Cobham.
Any injury news? Anyone returning on Monday?

"No. Exactly the same as the last game. Wes [Fofana] is out, Romeo [Lavia] is out and Benoit [Badiashile] is out. The rest are okay."
Do you need a response from the Man City defeat?
"We need a response, we need a good performance to try and win the game, but not because it is after the City game. We try to do always the same and for sure, it could be a good option, a good moment to get three points, especially at home."
With Graham Potter coming back - did you see much of Chelsea when he was there? Any sympathy for him?
"I have no idea. When he was here, I was not in the environment. I can say since we started, I am working and happy with the right environment."
Does deadline day being on game day have an impact on you?
"No. It's the same situation for all the clubs, for all the managers. It is good also because you can work with the ones that you are sure are going to be with you until the end. It is good for me but also for the other clubs."
Do you expect at least one player to come in?
"You can expect players to arrive and you can expect players to be leaving. It is like this in this moment. I don't have any ideas about the ones that can leave and the ones that can arrive. Anything can happen. For me, the main focus is on 48 hours, the game and is the main focus and the most important thing."
What impact does it being deadline day have on your selection?
"We have in this moment, many noises around the players but it is not just for us. Probably if you ask Graham [Potter], he is exactly the same. I don't know if they have noises around players but all in all, I think it's exactly the same situation for all of the clubs, all of the managers, the good thing is that Monday is the last day."
What was your thinking behind the game-plan vs Manchester City?
"The plan behind the game, as I said, in that kind of game you have to be brave and you have to accept. You have two ways; one is that you drop and you give them 80% of possession and you wait. Sometimes you can be lucky and you can win the game or get the draw.
"The other way is to try and be aggressive, to try and be brave. Especially the second-half, every time they tried to play short from behind, we recovered the ball I think 90%. Three times they played long with Ederson to [Erling] Haaland and two times they scored and one time [Omar] Marmoush had a shot from outside of the box.
"It is what it is. You have to accept. It can happen when they have Ederson, who is good in long range and they have Haaland, who is top. It's a decision you have to take before the game. I prefer always to see my team being brave rather than sitting back and waiting for something."
How is Marc Guiu doing? Is he ready to play and come on late in games?
"Marc is improving a lot, to be honest. He is doing fantastic; day by day, he is getting more and more ready for that sort of game but sometimes the decision is because I see something and sometimes it is good, sometimes it is not. For sure, Marc, I think day after day, he is more ready."
What are you expecting from West Ham under Potter?
"They are very aggressive. I watched the four or five games with Graham in charge. You can see they are trying to be very aggressive, even in the last game against Aston Villa. It will be a tough game, like always. In terms of tactical, we still have two days to prepare the game, so we are going to see."
Have you decided who will start in goal on Monday night - and will it be Robert Sanchez?
"Not yet. The decision, we have two or three days. The good thing is; any decision I take, I feel good because every time Filip [Jorgensen] has played since we started, he has done well. Filip or Robert, we will see but any decision will be okay."
Are you concerned about the fans' reaction to Sanchez? Would that be a factor in your decision and would you urge the fans to get behind him rather than voice their disappointment if he is playing?
"The only thing I can say is that we need the fans. We need them, the players need them. Understanding that sometimes, for different reasons, they cannot be happy with the players or with the manager in general. But for sure, we need their support because they have to trust our direction.
"If I see something I don't like, I am the first one who doesn't accept that. They can be happy in terms of the way they try to work every day, the way they try to embrace all the situations we have had this season. I am sure at the end, we are going to be there fighting for something."
Last season at Leicester City, after dominating for several months, you went on a tricky run. What did you learn from that period and is it helping you now?
"It happened exactly the same. That moment, the good thing was that we were dominating almost all the games, creating chances. The big difference was inside the box. We conceded goals that we could do better and we didn't score goals but had many chances.
"More or less here, it is happening the same. All of the games, we had chances to score, even the last game; after three minutes, it can be 2-0 and the game is completely different. For me, the big difference at the moment - I know we have struggled with results in the last six, seven or eight [games], I don't remember - but the performance is there.
"Probably in some games, the performance hasn't been there for 95 or 100 minutes, it has been for 60 minutes, 70 minutes, 45 minutes. It needs to be there for 100 minutes and for sure, that is something we can improve. The big difference has been inside the box, conceding goals we can avoid and scoring goals. It is about to continue and try to understand how we can improve these things."
Has the noise regarding transfers in the background impacted your squad?
"100%. Not only us but all the teams. In the end, they are human beings. Even if they say: 'No, I am professional, I am focused', if they are talking to other clubs then they are probably not focused 100%. It's not just for us. This can be something.
"The other one, I think, probably losing Wes [Fofana], who for us has been a key player since the start, has been some moment. But if you see City and Arsenal, it has happened in all of the teams. The reason why is different.
"The good thing is we are still playing a good game, a good performance, good chances. Probably in this moment, the difference has been inside of the box."
If matches were 30 minutes long, you would be top of the Premier League. Is there an issue with your options from the bench? They are the ones being linked with transfers...
"If you go back, we won some games where I made a change in the last five minutes [remaining] and because we won, nobody realised the change was in the last minutes. And then when you don't win and you don't make changes, people are asking why you didn't make changes.
"It just depends on the game-plan, if the game requires some changes. But it is probably a good thing that on Monday, it [transfer window] finishes."
Would there be a benefit to take the spotlight off Sanchez?
"Sometimes it can happen. It is not only in Robert's case. Already this season, it happened with Alisson, no? He was okay but he was on the bench for some games.
"The other day, I was reading about [Gianluigi] Donnarumma that this season with PSG, he was playing always but for some games, Luis Enrique left him out and now he is playing games and doing well. Sometimes, for sure, it can be a solution but it doesn't mean this is Robert's case."
Is there a fear that Filip Jorgensen looks at the situation, the longer he doesn't get the nod, then that could be a problem for his development?
"I don't think so because the first time I spoke with Filip in June or July, I don't remember, I was clear that the number one choice was Robert. For sure, if the number one is Robert and then because we have two good goalkeepers, we can make some different decisions.
"This doesn't mean that Robert can make a mistake every game and is always going to play. The number one choice was Robert and we will see on Monday."
Is there any chance Kepa Arrizabalaga can be recalled? Have you thought about doing that?
"No. Absolutely not."
