Every word Mikel Arteta said on Ben White return, William Saliba injury and signing a striker
Arsenal take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday, looking to keep pace with leaders Liverpool. Both teams at the top of the table play at 3pm on Saturday so neither will know how the other has done until the final whistles blow.
Manager Mikel Arteta has a number of injury worries to contend with, heading into the match and a different manager to come up against in the home dugout at Molineux too from the game at the start of the season.
Arteta has been discussing his injury problems and the work being done in the transfer window to sign a striker in his pre-match press conference. Here's every word the Arsenal boss just said.

Players potentially returning from injury, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ben White, William Saliba, what's the latest?
With Myles there's nothing serious on the scan so it will be a matter of today having a meeting with the medical staff and a training session and whether it's too early or not. With Willy it's the same. I think they'll definitely be in for next week but this week, let's see how it goes.
And Ben White?
Still not available.
So much noise outside the club about Arsenal need to sign a forward but you clearly don't share that same sentiment, do you think it's essential that you sign a forward or would you be very happy not?
I don't share what? Have I ever said no to a striker?
So many people think Arsenal have to sign a forward, what's your opinion?
My opinion is clear, we lost two very important players in Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus so we lack goals, we lack people, we lack options in the front line, it's clear.
So is it essential to sign someone?
If we can get the right player, that's what we're actively looking at. Any player? No. Someone that makes us better and has an impact on the team. We need some help, we're very short already but the team is coping. We have to do what is right for the club.
If window were to club and you haven't got another forward option?
That's an option, because it doesn't depend on us, or Mikel or our will it depends on the market and many other factors.
Would you consider possibility of sending Neto or Sterling back to their parent clubs to get another domestic loan in?
We're not thinking about that.
This weekend a reversal of the opening weekend of the season, how do you think Arsenal have changed?
I think we're a much better side. In every sense, we have evolved a lot as a team, very important experiences, with everything that happened is outstanding I think.
Different manager at Wolves now, do you relish that challenge?
He's been in for a few weeks already, I know Vitor well, his ideas and how he sets up the team. It will be a really tough match because they are a really well coached team and especially there they are a difficult side to beat.
How do they differ under Pereira?
They have certain very clear principles what they want to achieve with and without the ball. they are in a different moment now than the start of the season.
Do you sense they will be compact and difficult to break down?
They have done it differently regardless of the opposition, and regardless of results, it tells us a lot about their intentions, we'll have to understand very quickly what sort of game they want to propose and what is good for us.
Matheus Cunha gets talked about a lot, what is it about him and his threat that make him a danger?
I prefer not to talk about the individual, I prefer to talk about the collective and they have a lot of talent.
You've said the team hasn't always got what it deserved, is there a danger of that creeping into the players?
That's a fact. We cannot feel sorry for ourselves, certain elements, certain things, certain moments we have to elevate those standards.
Any further plans about the winter break?
No further plans as yet.
Does striker being right for the club factor into summer plans?
Everything is, we have certain resources the ability to recruit certain players, develop certain players, everything. In a positive note we have certain players probably nobody expected to have participation this year and they've had a lot and that is a bonus.
How difficult is it when recruiting players for example because Bukayo Saka is injured, because that player knows the minute Bukayo comes back he's going to play?
That's the theory! We don't know for how long and how many games he can play. The amount of games we have and the intensity and demands that we put on our players, it's impossible to think a player can sustain a position, it's not going to happen.
Do you think at the end of the season you managers will get together to lobby for bigger squads?
I think that situation is with the Premier League and UEFA rules that have to be adapted. The schedule is adapted in a demanding way and the constraints that the clubs have are more limited and that does not make a lot of sense. We want to watch the best football games, to have the best players available and for players to extend their careers and maximise their potential and for this show to continue.
There will be goals, 46 years since Arsenal didn't score against Wolves.
Thank you for the stat but for tomorrow that doesn't help us unfortunately.
If you get players out this month can that increase capacity of what you can do?
It's about balance, depending on which player it is that gives us space. The rules are quite tricky as well in terms of what you bring and what you sell, it's about resources you have after that.
Ben White, could he make that Newcastle second leg?
He hasn't trained with the team yet but he's very close to doing that. He needs to tick a few boxes and then I think he will be with us pretty soon.
With so many games, do you ever wish you could rotate yourself?
Me? No, I'm ok. I don't have to run, it's different, psychological demands, we put the bar really high, but it's what I love doing, I'm fine.
You have to look after yourself though, do you get extra sleep or a special diet?
Diet I'm doing well, but sleep I could sleep a little bit more!
Ayden Heaven, would it be disappointing to lose one of your own academy products?
I cannot talk about anything.
How realistic do you think it is that Arsenal can catch Liverpool?
The margins are really, really small, you see how things could have gone last weekend. Turning points are minimal. We have to be at it, there's still a long, long way to go.
Do you envisage a sticky patch for Liverpool? Most teams do at some stage
They normally do, so we have to be there.
Trossard and Martinelli the past weeks been very good for both, they've brought a lot more threat, how have you felt their past few weeks have been?
Very happy, they made another step forward, impacting the game in a more powerful, more consistent way, it's a great asset to have, they're really important and both in a good moment gives the team a very good threat.
Declan Rice spoke about signings, do players talk to you and say 'we feel we need another player'?
Not like that but we've all been there, they look at each other, we have short numbers for many weeks, they recognise the situation, we all do.
Do you consult players on signings?
Sometimes yes, especially if they know them, because that's getting away from the computer, away from the data, it's real, they know it, they sense it. A player can score a lot of goals. Great. But how does this player react when he doesn't score in six or seven? This is what I am interested in. When you have a player that has spent a lot of players with him, that's' valuable information to have.
What is the market like in general?
That is a question for Jason [Ayto], not for me, I'm with the team and the one that is managing the team.
