Everything Virgil van Dijk has said on Liverpool future with contract situation not resolved
Things couldn't be going much better on the pitch for Liverpool right now. The Reds have enjoyed a remarkable start to life under Arne Slot and have opened up a very decent gap at the top of the Premier League.
A place in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup has been secured with Liverpool also leading the Champions League going into 2025. Few would have predicted this start to the season when Jurgen Klopp departed but there is no stopping Liverpool right now.
Off the pitch, there are still some very important matters at hand. Arguably Liverpool's three biggest names, and most important players, are all out of contract in the summer.

Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and nd Trent Alexander-Arnold are all free to talk to foreign clubs in a matter of days. And while there has been speculation about his teammates, Van Dijk has been going about his business quietly.
He will turn 34 in July but the Reds skipper has been outstanding so far this term. A Liverpool defense without him in it seems unconceivable right now but Van Dijk says there has not yet been a contract offer from the club.
Speaking after the win over Tottenham, he insisted he is calm about the situation heading into 2025. “There is no deadline at all,” Van Dijk said. “I’ll see what the future holds. I focus fully on Leicester.”
There have been continued attempts from journalists to get an answer, particularly from Spanish reporters after the win over Real Madrid in the Champions League. A direct question was asked about a move to the European champions but Van Dijk gave it short shrift.
He insisted he will wait until the end of the season back in October before making a decision on his future. Speaking after the draw with Arsenal, he said: "'I'm feeling very good, physically and mentally. I'm in a good place and yeah nothing more can be said, I just want to keep enjoying the game. I am enjoying my football."
Van Dijk's comments have followed a similar trend since the end of last season but he did spark speculation in the summer. Back at Euro 2024, following the Netherlands' semi-final defeat to England, Van Dijk raised a few eyebrows with his post-match comments, mentioning he would need to "think carefully" about his future.
"I haven't the slightest idea right now," said Van Dijk when asked about his future. "I will think carefully this summer about what I want at club level and as an international player. Then we'll go for it again, but first recover from this. After a season like this, where all kinds of things have happened, it gets emotional at the end because you know it's over."
